From a race-inspired concept to overland adventure rig… your eyes don’t deceive you, I really did own one of the most unique Bronco Sports out there.
Before it ever carried my gear into the Arizona desert, this Bronco Sport Badlands had already built a reputation of its own. It started life as a one-off concept created by Baja Forged for the 2021 SEMA show. This wasn’t just another modified Bronco Sport, it was a fully realized vision of what the platform could become when pushed beyond its limits.
I became the second owner after Baja Forged wrapped up their time with it, inheriting not just a unique build, but one that people already recognized. Some had seen it under the bright lights at SEMA, others followed it online, and from there, a new chapter began.
Throughout 2023 (and into 2024), I took that same Bronco Sport where it was always meant to be, on trails, in the dirt, and deep into overland routes across the Southwest, documenting everything along the way. The goal wasn’t just to preserve what it was, but to evolve it into something that reflected my own style and purpose. The original “Big Oly” tribute gave way to something new: my ultimate overland-ready Bronco Sport, “The Bronchog MK1.” If you’ve come across my videos before, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen this rig in action.
This post is a full breakdown of that journey, the original SEMA build, what changed under my ownership, what worked, what didn’t, and how it all came together before passing it on to its next owner.
