Just a heads up, a fuse went out on my air suspension, and it took me a while to figure out what it was.And when I was doing the test drive after, I noticed just in my garage, not even moving when I went from park to drive, it made a squealing sound. So I had someone else get in and go between park.Reverse drive and back obviously with a few seconds in between.Let it settle before you shift it again. And the whole engine was moving like two inches.
So I looked online, well, first I looked at the top engine mount, and it seemed to be okay, but it's hard to tell with the stuff. In the way a guy had his brake on a trail. The lower engine mount and evidently on the two liters, at least it's a bitch and a half, because you literally have to drop the entire subframe to get to some of the bolts.
So I was able to luckily see the crack in my transmission mount. And so I pulled all the stuff off.I've already got the part ordered, which was like a hundred and thirty dollars, which was the cheapest.I could find on parts geek, and it's going to be here in 2-5 days which probably doesn't count today.Which is sunday or tomorrow?Which is columbus day.
So anyways, you guys might want to watch out for that.If you put it in drive and you notice a weird, I guess it was kind of like a rubbing sound.Maybe it's the first time that i've heard it.So i'm pretty sure it happened soon.I try to turn off the radio and listen to my car every now and then.Driving and everything and on startup.
So of course, there wasn't a video for our car, but there is a video for like an 11 to 19 Explorer. And ours was in the exact same spot. You basically have to pull off the air box and the battery and the battery tray. And it's right under there. It's not too hard. Anyone can do it. It's just a little bit of a pain getting stuff out of the way, and you can clearly see the big crack down the middle. I'm leaving mine bolted up. I just made sure I could actually get the bolts loose. And then I'll fully take it off once. I get the new part in also you want to make sure that you put a Jack with a piece of soft wood on top between the Jack and the transmission PAN to keep it from dropping down. I did mine on the ridge, probably where the transmission actually bolts to the engine. Because I don't like putting it on the PAN. Even though luckily's ours is metal, but it is Is just aluminum and I only just barely settled it on there but it's been a while since i've have to do this had to do on my fourteen escape, though. Those were common for going and the common upgrade was to use the hybrid version which was stronger. But I did all of the motor mounts on that one.And that lower one was a pain, but it was nothing like this. One supposedly as.
Anyways, I put some pics, feel free to chat, but I just don't get on this forum that often to be honest, i'm so worried about this transmission braking as soon as this car is paid off.I'm getting a new one, not taking the chance.
And yes, that is a paint can helping to hold up the transmission.I would rather that it crumbles and the transmission sags.A bit plus I couldn't get my jack under there without moving the vehicle. And then I wouldn't be able to close my garage. You can hate on me all you want. It's what I did.And then i've got a piece of steel, which is actually from my spare tire holder between that and then a piece of soft plywood, actually between the steel and the pan, or rather the ridge. That, I think, is the transmission and the engine.
