Not that you were asking me but with the skids and rock rails installed I didn’t notice much of an MPG hit, it will impact it but it’s lighter than having a passenger in the car. There are probably people that weigh 60 more pounds than you getting similar MPG
I’ve also got them installed! Unlike @NMhunter I didn’t have too bad of a time getting the gas tank skid off (second his recommendation for heating the bolts though) but I had a HELL of a time drilling holes, even with cobalt bits. Thats some hard metal.
I did have to cut the gas tank skids but...
A Maverick owner moved theirs up in this thread, so it’s possible. Kinda same deal with a lot of comments about how it COULD be a problem but nobody actually experiencing said problem. I’ll choose to believe the engineers aren’t completely braindead and didn’t consider it an issue. Personally...
I guess point still stands for the wider forum; has ANYONE spotted PCM damage from water intrusion? I’ve dug through both the Bronco sport forum, the subreddit, and the Facebook group. Every time someone discusses water fording, there are a few of comments going “Watch out, the PCM is in the...
Could you please link me to some? I’ve certainly seen a lot of people TALK about this on different platforms, but they literally all link back to this same thread or video about the same guy and this same incident. Would love to compare them to see if it’s the same failure point
I definitely considered it, but given the lack of problems anyone else has had I decided I didn’t want to disturb/compromise the OEM sealant by doing so. I was comfortable just adding an extra layer of water ingress protection around it, if you want to disconnect the clips and get it all up in...
Necro-ing this thread, after a few years and some searching, this is still the only reported incident I can find of this happening. I realize not a ton of people are fording with their mini fords, but enough have without issue (myself included) I think OP purely just got unlucky with a...
Doesn’t really help you with a 2025 but I stuck a compressor in my 21. Routed an air chuck tucked right under the windshield for easy access and I don’t have to open the hood. Hose coils nicely in the seatback pocket
There was a bracket it just happened to bolt nicely to, had to get...
18.5ish feet, altogether with trailer something like 1900-2000 lbs with fuel. Doesn’t squat, zero problems towing, launching, or recovering! Barely know it’s back there, aluminum hulls FTW
I stay exactly with what the manual recommends. I run full synthetics in my cars that call for it, and Motorcraft synthetic blend in my Bronco sports because Ford recommends it. They did build the engine so I figure they know a thing or two about its upkeep.
Fuel wise I run regular most of the...
Sheesh, that’s rough! If I’m understanding correctly it sounds like the breakage is more from repeated hard impacts on the rear suspension from going a wee bit too fast through some rough areas?
At least on the first gen if you don’t have the factory tow bar you have a crash bar that bolts into the same location. It’s tied to the rear body with a few bolts each, and the tow bar also extends back into the unibody for extra strength
