I just returned my thule rack/crossbars so that I can get the yucca manufacturing one. The wind noise wasn't terrible but the basket systems don't fit enough, I found out the hard way on an 18 day camping trip in the pacific northwest.
For normal days I always have:
-tow strap
-tire pressure gauge
-slime
-fire extinguisher
-head lamp(s)
-Tie Downs
-Zip Ties
-Road Flares
-Glow Sticks
-Reflective Vest
-Mag Light
-Jumper Cables (with battery, I have been stranded too many times with jumper cables and no one to jump me)
-gloves...
I ended up going with Alpha's, I was a little worried but once I saw them on I knew I made the right choice.

None of those are what I was looking for which I why I asked my buddy if could build one (: 4WP designed one very similar to what I wanted, however they didn't say if it was something they would be mass producing and when. I need a fifth actual full sized spare for a 18 camping trip in 4 weeks...
Hey all -
I have a buddy fabricating a hitch mounted trail swing for the sport, and he was curious if anyone else was interested in purchasing one? He's been fabricating off-road trucks for the last 15+ years, and has his own welding business where he does anything from staircase's to roll...
Oh I will definitely look into that! Between my cross bars and the basket it adds an extra 8" to the height of my car which doesn't help trying to load it with a little door step lol.
I'm probably going to be mounting my Jerry Can to my roof rack, but I curious if anyone had thought of any other spots? I'm short and slightly fearful of grabbing 6 gallons of fuel off the roof of my car using a tire step hahah
Do you have the Yakima Crossbars/Rack?
I have the Thule Crossbar/Cargo Basket installed and honestly I can't tell the difference, except for a small whistle that happens around 55-65 when my windows are down.
