It's back from 2 weeks at the dealer. They found a bad connection in connector C201 - pin 34. So far I've had no problem after minor testing. I'll update if it happenes again.
UPDATE - I just drove 2000 miles to see my brother and gained some new insight on my problem with the transmission sensor error. I experienced the problem 2 times. One was sitting for an extended amount of time in a drive through fast food place and once again (severely) in rush our Atlanta...
Thanks for checking. Ford replaced the sensor as they couldn't find anything else. I had not associated that maybe that hold switch was possibly involved - so I didn't relay that to the dealer.
I'll try it some more to get the feel. I can't touch that switch until I get home - 1000 miles. I've touched it twice and got that severe message and limited power/shifting problem within 5 minutes. After looking at the schematic I can't even guess of any interaction that hold switch could be...
I was going to look that up. Thanks. Im not too fond of that 'feature' anyhow. It seems too easy to release the brakes - bumping a little switch or touching the gas pedal. Putting electrical components in the center console it really bad design in my opinion.
New update on my original problem in this thread. First - I took it to the dealer so that the problem would be noted in their system. They found nothing - so replaced the sensor that caused the error. All good for couple weeks. Tonight, 1000 miles from home I again got stuck in traffic for an...
Would this cause the original problem above? Locked steering (possibly just not powered vs locked) and stuck in park? If there are multiple cases of locked steering - that is deadly. I count on steering (and brakes) as 2 non-negotiable requirements
These stories sound like grounds for a recall. I'm thinking ford doesn't have the smartest software people working there. Example- why would LED cooling fans come on when I open a door?
I remember those heat risers back in the day when I worked on lots of cars. As I remember, those worked for about 6 months before freezing up completely - at least on the Chevys. They restricted exhaust on on side of a v8 to force hot exhaust across the intake manifold under the carb to the...
I got lucky in high school in the 60's and got a job at a car garage. I've been doing all work on all my vehicles since then - saved me untold thousands. When my son was in high school - we pulled the engine out of our 86 Dodge Caravan and totally rebuilt it so he could get some experience. He's...
I'm not 100% sure about all the clicking. It sounds like relays which are switches turned on and off by an electric coil magnet. I've heard that the whining noise is fans on the LED headlights. I know on my badlands the fans come on even if the headlights were not on previous to them...
Wow - I was going to ask about all the relay clicking I hear a lot of while my BS is parked. It's hard to believe Ford has that much crap running in background. It seems all they need is the key fob receiver running and maybe one other thing - but nothing clicking. I'm an engineer - and that...
Interesting - The 6:55 was while waiting for valet to park our car (anniversary dinner). While we sitting there I told my wife that I think this vehicle has a switch for this - to hold car with brake while waiting. I pressed it about that time and released it shortly afterward (seconds). The...
The first pic date/time match when I was driving and got a message on the display to have vehicle serviced - never a check engine light at all. I wonder exactly what triggers a display message vs. a check engine light?
