Yea the rotary knob is about my only gripe as well.

Id also like a way to change radio channels on the steering wheel.
I can change stations from the wheel...?? As for the shift knob -- really my only gripe about that is the mistakes I make using it -- unintentionally trying to shift into Park or Reverse sometimes, though the computer won't let you do it; and trying to take off in Neutral sometimes. My biggest gripe is the engine computer holding the revs way up high ALL THE TIME. I suppose it thinks it's rev-matching to my speed going down the road. This is only related to manual shifting situations though.

All the whining about 'my BS didn't come with THIS...'. I GET the slipstream changes are annoying (digital temp readouts, hatch button, engine cover, etc.) and don't like those either. But when you know something isn't included -- you're not paying for it, so why gripe!? It's costs and marketing -- why SHOULD anybody by the top-of-the-line if all of the cheaper options have all of the same...options...anyway? These buyer decisions come down to either "I'll live without that" or "gotta have it" whatever the additional cost. Come on, quit griping, this is all "older than dirt," I don't see anything new happening here.

The pros outweigh the cons big time, but a few things from my time owning a Big Bend:

(1) The interior materials are cheap and easily scatchable. My 20-year-old Toyota is not high-end by any means, but the materials are durable and don't show scratches as readily. I love the design of Ford's interiors -- they're usable, practical, free of b.s. -- but the quality is disappointing.

(2) Puny rear wiper.

(3) The giant piece of black molded plastic on the front end. Looks cheap, like something you'd snap on a toy.

(4) Glossy black plastic pillars on an "adventure" SUV. C'mon man!

(5) Bronco Sport lettering on the hatch. Easy enough to peel it off, but I'd prefer FORD across the back, like on old Broncos or Ford trucks.
I agree, Ford does not seem to know how to do plastics, if the BS is their best effort. They do seem easily scratched, and the gritty textured surfaces might be some sort of paint, I think.

The rear wiper? They're all like that now, been that way for years. Would have to mount it further above or below the glass (i.e. on the sheet metal below), or a more complex arm design. It's geometry...

You’re missing the point. We are happy to pay more for the conveniences. We are unhappy we cannot. Further, some of these things we are complaining about were pretty standard as much as 20 years ago. So I hope this thread is getting Fords attention.

I've had mine a year now and my original two complaints are still the only two I have.
I wish the 2/3 split rear seat had the wider side on the passenger side, narrower behind the driver. For car camping, that would allow you to hop in and drive instantly, (when going from sleep to drive mode), because the driver's seat wouldn't be moved all the way forward to accomodate having slept in the back. In an emergency, like having to leave a site immediately, you could just hop up front and drive away.

Sync 4
What are you doing at these camp sites that you need to immediately flee the scene......?

(Joking, I understand the convenience you're describing)

For a vehicle supposedly oriented to outdoor enthusiasts, Ford really missed the mark in a number of areas, putting appearance ahead of function.
  • Rear seats not folding down completely flat and level enough for comfortable sleeping. Or allow the seat bottoms to be removed to make it level in back.
  • The roof rack design. Ford has long offered a choice of a roof rack or roof "channels". The channels are just low profile rails (1/2" high) that replace the roof rack and accept Yakima towers designed just to fit those channels. Then the towers accept the full range of Yakima crossbars and all Yakima mounts. When not in use towers/crossbars dismount from the channels and can be stored off the vehicle leaving a flat roof. The channel system is excellent for adjustability, load distribution, low profile, and general utility. I think Ford made a mistake when they broke compatibility with Yakima forcing the use of kludgy clamp-on crossbars.
  • The antenna location. Looks to be in the way when loading kayaks from the rear.
  • The tiny rear window. About half the size of the window on Escapes or 4Runners, then obstructed even further with the wiper mechanism in the way.
  • The rear license plate location on the bumper, just above the hitch. Any hitch rack or cargo carrier will block that license plate, risking a ticket. This means I need to add a license plate bracket to my hitch rack and figure a way to easily move the license plate there when needed. Looks like Ford moved it to the bumper to allow space on the liftgate for the "Bronco Sport"" logo.
The rear bench is very easily removed, it's just clips on a steel perimeter railing underneath;

Agreed, I do not like the wiper mechanism location filling up so much of the rear window opening! Otherwise big enough for me though.

I'm confused by your post. You say you are happy to pay more for the conveniences (many of which are available on higher trims) but then complain that some options should be standard across the board? So in reality you're not happy to pay for them?

I get what @tRex is saying. Either pay for them or don't, but also don't expect everyone to pay for options they don't want. All that does is force everyone to pay a higher base price of the vehicle.

I wish that either Sport mode was the next mode after Normal, or that we could more quickly shift drive modes. The current dial and waiting for the graphic to come up is an annoyance compared to just pressing the "S" button on my fusion sport to get ahead of the other crossovers at the stoplight.
I've been using Eco mode lately to test fuel economy. I've gotten into the habit of simply turning the dial two 'clicks' clockwise after I start the engine. No need to wait for the display to come up. Sport mode is three clicks (provided you are starting in Normal mode).

Honestly, the most I hate about it is car culture itself. Any time I try to talk about the bs online or off, queue the deluge of certified cool guys "That's just an Escape! How pissed were you when the full size Bronco came out? GIIIRRRLLLSS CAAAAARRR"
The next time someone says "girl's car" to you just ask, "Did you buy a "real" Bronco?" I'm fairly certain most of these @$$holes don't own a Bronco of any kind.

I've owned a number of sports, classic cars, and hot rods. I used to get a lot of snobbery because of mods like stuffing a built 327 in a Jaguar Mark X. Guys would come up and want to chat about the car and everything was cool until the mods came into question. Their reaction was always something akin to horror that I'd brutalized a classic car. Anyone who knows Jags understands that the Mark X isn't particularly collectible, and I bought the thing in pieces with no engine, trans, or interior.

At that point in the conversation, I started asking them what THEY drove. Almost without exception, it was some kind of very ordinary car. Any car is cool if you're into it. I just don't get people who rag on other peoples' rides.

Well I’m on issue 4, which is apparently a paint issue. For a 3 month old vehicle I’ve been very disappointed

Hi there, Steve8583. I can look into this paint issue regarding your Bronco on my end. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

LOL. A lady never tells. Mostly because I want to go exploring and not have to set everything back to rights first. Lazy? It could be a safety issue though. I do camp alone and have had times I wanted to start the engine and go.
