I just traded my 2021 Badlands on a new Volvo XC90 plug-in hybrid for my wife (and I get her R1T). I had a door ding and a tire sensor fault showing with 13k miles and got :$26,500 plus almost $1500 in tax savings. I was pleasantly shocked how well the value has held up.
Low mileage is most likely the reason for a larger trade-in value. Otherwiise the resale value would be 21-23K.

Recently heard on the news that Honda is recalling thousands of there vehicles (several models) due to engine failure. Possible main bearings failing.
Yeah some ppl on Pilot forum posting up V6 engines spinning bearings in older Pilots and Honda says their VIN is not in the recall and making owners pay for repair.

Honda been having automatic trans problems in their bigger SUVs and mini vans for a long while now. Hit or miss some have issues some don't. Buyer beware test drive before signing any papers.

Toyota had a bad batch of engines recently.

Around 250 miles so far. Exceeds my expectations fit finish way it drives. Does everything great. Can whip around curvy country roads like a car. Most auto publications rate it mid pack behind many competitors. So I am surprise how nice it is love it

Never did see CarMax list my Badlands. Most likely someone with connections snagged it and it never made it to their inventory.. it was in new car condition and flawless super unusual nice condition and no defects did everything great. Most likely got flagged and some lucky person grabbed it.

We traded our BS BL in June with 37k on the odometer for a 2024 Honda Passport Trailsport and the wife loves it. The Honda is definitely the better built car. No more glitchy infotainment system that couldn't be fixed no more driveline noises and no more interior rattles.

Just go to the CarMax site and get a no commitment offer to purchase. I did that before we went shopping. It let me decide a trade was a better deal.
Just Something I found out when buying my OBX. This may only apply to New York State, but it's worth checking out. The dealer trade-in may be less than you get at Cae-Max but, In New York you pay sales tax on a new vehicle. If you trade -in the tax is figured on the difference. If you go clean deal, you will pay sales tax on the whole amount. This difference in tax may be greater than the different trade-in amounts of the dealer or Car-Max.
