Hello all,

My wife started noticing a noise last week when she would turn hard to the right at low low speed. I.e. parking or turning right at a stop. I got out last night let her drive and confirmed it’s from the rear passenger wheel. I could actually see the wheel momentarily stopping at the same time the rubbing noise was made. I lifted the wheel and spun it. Not a stuck caliper. The lug nuts are all snug. The rear backing plate is not bent or rubbing either. Anyone else see this? I’m thinking it’s a cv joint or bad wheel bearing.

33,xxx miles. Bone stock.

Thanks.

Hi there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

Mine just started doing this exact same thing, almost a deep bass sound when turning to park. Did you ever figure it out? I has the tires rotated and they said it was def nothing tire related. would love to know if anyone has figured this out. I really dislike our Ford dealer here in town, besides my warranty is exp. and I don’t wanna have to take it too far if a reg mechanic can address the issue

Obviously internet diagnosis is not always accurate. Unfortunately the symptoms you discribe can be caused by the RDU starting to let go.
Take the Sport to the dealer and have it diagnosed. There is a TSB that calls out a fluid change and a new vent hose, if that doesn't resolve the issue the RDU will likely need to be replaced.
You can search the board for RDU issues, you will find you are not the only one.

It was the RDU (rear drive unit) first they did the TSB for it and it helped temporarily. Then they ended up replacing the entire RDU. It’s been no problem since.
