I could be wrong but, I believe the tremor comes standard with 235/65/17 tires. Whereas the badlands is rated 8.8 with 225/65/17 and the 235/65/17 is an upgraded option. Which should give an additional clearance.

Basically a finger width difference in ground clearence between the Tremor and BS Badlands isn't a big deal, It also doesn't help the Tremors offroad performance according to Car and Driver's review.
All the articles I've read state the Tremor has a 1.0" lift, but do not say how it's accomplished.
The Maverick platform also massaged the wheelbase, it's been stretched 16", and the overall length has increased 28.0".
I really like the Maverick platform, especially in Hybrid form.

The Maverick starts with a higher ground clearance before adding the Tremor package. The FX4 version provides 8.6".

If I had to guess why the Maverick has better ground clearance than the Bronco Sport I would say the longer distance between the axles on the Maverick affords more space to tuck things up and out of the way.

Regardless, the more important stats for off-roading are approach, departure, and breakover angles. The Bronco Sport's numbers are better for all three.
