This morning's chuckle:

I've read somewhere on this forum that if I wanted to purchase Steelies (Badlands)rims, that Ford was charging silly money. I was at the Ford dealer yesterday getting my wife's car serviced and asked the parts guy to look up some prices. Steelies come in around $1000.00 each! 17" black or grey Big Bend style rims are > $700.00.

I found this quite humorous.

I just got a black 17 steel rim for a full size spare for my big bend from tire rack, it was 116.00 after tax with free shipping. Came next day.

My dealers bodyshop quoted me as $1,100 for a replacement wheel. I have the upgraded 18” wheels on my big bend .
I told him I’ll bring him a wheel , Picked me up 4 OEM wheels and tires on eBay for $1,400 That’s 4 for the price of 1 at the dealer . He was more than happy to work with me and allow me to source my own parts for the repair of my vehicle.

Considering the Badlands "steelies" are not steel, and being factory OEM parts, I can understand the pricing. You may get a better price from one of the larger Ford dealers that push a lot of parts.

truth be told. those rims are in high demand i think (i'd kill for a set). you can get a real nice aftermarket set of 4, for the price of one badlands wheel.

My wife has been made aware of this post in case I'm found dead in my Badlands sitting on cinder blocks...

I wouldn't mind a set, those are very nice wheels, but not at $4k. However, I'm still deciding what I want to do. Right now I have an image in my head of going old school with steel black reverse rims with Ford center caps and possibly chrome trim rings. Trying to source what works wth what is taking some time though.

I get that lots of people want them, not sure I understand the appeal... I mean, if you want to replicate the look of cheap ass, stamped steel wheels, for the purpose of nostalgia, be my guest. They're like a $750 upgrade to the standard Badlands wheels if you pick them at the time of order. For me, I like the stock BL wheels better. If wanted the steelie look and were doing it on a Sport other than a customized BL where I could order them, I'd go aftermarket. Fuel Off-Road has a couple that offer a similar cutout/hole profile to suggest a similar look or vibe. I know I've seen some others intended for the full-size Bronco that look just like steelies but are quality forged wheels. Can't recall who's selling those.

If you're truly committed to the cause, it's probably better to just order 4 of the Badlands full-size spares that come with real steelies and then you have both the look and the heavy, crappy, stamped wheel to match the looks. And a lot cheaper than the cast aluminum fakies.

I realize some will not like what I just said...

I do like the steelie look, and before reallity bit, I thought they would be maybe $200 each. New black steel rims can be had for as little as $75.

What is stupid is these same rims were that price in January 2021 and now are well over that. The latest dealer i looked at was 338.00. The Tire Rack sell them for 108.00 I want them for winter driving cause Michigan drops straight salt on the roads.
