On March 21, 2022 (less than 30 days of ownership and 1400 miles) the transmission in first and second gear felt like it was slipping. Almost like a manual transmission with a cooked clutch. I would give it gas and all it would do would rev high and not move After several seconds it would “catch” and move. I took a video of it and gave it to Ford (too big to post on here). The car has been with Ford for a week now and they are waiting on a Ford Engineer to help diagnose the problem as they have never seen it before. Mind you this is a huge Ford dealership in the Houston area and not some podunk organization. Any one else have a similar problem? I did a quick search in forums and did not find anything exactly on point.

Hey, Modo86! I would like to like to into this transmission concern you’re experiencing with your Bronco Sport. Could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer?

did you get this resolved?

They replaced the valve body on ours and now it’s slipping again. It goes back in on Friday. We are really considering giving this thing back and just going to get another vehicle.

It is still with Ford. More than 30 days now. The dealership is trying to get authorization to replace the entire transmission….. I have considered requesting a buy back or a replacement but I really liked the BS and with the current shortage I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to find a suitable replacement. I’m going to give it at least two more weeks before enough is enough and I call BS on the BS

ugh. So sorry to hear this. The local stealership is doing what they do best and jerking us around. They made us wait three weeks to get the vehicle in and say they won’t be able to even look at it for a few days or even a week. When asked for a rental car they said the only vehicle they have is a Range Rover and we would have to pay extra. We are going to call ford today and go from there. I am done with this crap. I had considered getting another f150 in the future, and now I don’t want to have anything to do with their products.

you would think with all the issues they are having with the full size broncos and chip shortage, the company would treat their customers better than this.

A lot of Ford dealers after the sale they just want you to go away. Have you looked into another Ford dealer? Maybe read online reviews find one that cares? Also Lincoln dealers can do warranty work on Fords too.

You should start the lemon law process put a fire under their butts to get moving.

it is my understanding the lemon law differs from each state and often requires three services on the same issue to be valid. I may be wrong, this is just what I recall off hand.

not to hijack this thread. We are taking ours in tomorrow and been in contact with Ford directly.

hopefully both of these cases will be resolved sooner than later.

Every state law is different. In Texas you have to give them a reasonable opportunity to fix the issue. Reasonableness is presumed if it’s been more than 30 days and you don’t get a loner car. It’s also presumed if they have made two attempts to fix the issue and it hasn’t been resolved. I’m going to give them 45 days before starting the process. Even though I got a loaner, I believe most people would agree 45 days is more than a reasonable time for a brand new car with less than 1900 miles.

So after 7 weeks and a new transmission the BS is back in my hands. I have now driven it about 30 miles and it feels great. They tried several things to fix the issue but in the end they had to replace the transmission. Hopefully that is the end of the issues. Crossed fingers. Planet Ford in Spring, Texas were great to work with. Ford Motor Co. was OK no major complaints. My only minor complaint was that I told the Ford Rep that if I didn’t get the car back within 8 weeks I was going to request a buy back. The next day the rep tells me that my request for a buyback was denied…. Uh I never made that request. Anyway that is a small annoyance.

Had this issue occur with my brother's Ford Escort in 2012. Sudden power loss while maintaining speed or 1st and 2nd gear unresponsiveness. Three transmission replacements at 500mi, 1200 mi, 2700 mi. Lemon lawed (California). This was a known transmission issue with the double-clutch transmissions that were introduced in the Focus for that generation, although Ford denies it ever being an issue.

Then he bought an Infinity G37, and that had random transmission slippage from 1st, jumping into 3rd as if it couldnt decide what gear to go to. Luckily that auto resolved itself without involving the dealer.

Did you happen to be one of the forum members contacted by FoMoCo here on the forum? If so, did you contact FoMoCo with a PM? If so, did it do anything to help?

thanks again for posting this and the updates. Ford finally decided to replace our transmission as well. We are currently waiting for the tranny to get here. Meanwhile, the vehicle is operable, and slips while shifting into first gear. It does seem to be getting worse, so I have suggested she babies it until the parts arrive. I will definitely update when this is all finished.

I was contacted by ford on the forum. I’m not sure how much they actually did to help. My local dealership was great to work with. Anytime I had questions about what was going on they answered them. They were up front and honest. The Ford Motor Co reps seemed kind of robotic in the way they spoke about updates. I don’t think it hurt any but I’m not sure it helped. It’s almost like dealing with a claims adjuster through insurance. They want to be “helpful” until you start asking for compensation and then it’s different. Like I said earlier I was venting to the Ford rep about how long it had taken and that I was considering requesting a buy back and the next thing I know my “request” was denied. So yeah I’m not 100% sure I would open a claim with them if my local people are doing a good job.

The dealership had mine the whole time. No way I would drive it like that. It’s a safety hazard. Just imagine trying to pull out into traffic and then you have no power. It’s a recipe for disaster. Good luck!
