Trying to figure out how to pop the rear dome light out of the headliner so I can soundproof the infuriating annoying rattle that is being caused by the wiring harness connector.

I know there is a clip on one end of the lighting fixture to release it but I’m just wondering if anyone has had this issue or knows how to remove.

I don’t know if I can release this clip and just pop the whole peice out to access the wiring harness connector or if the headliner has to be dropped.

I found a picture of the part and there is just that one metal clip on one and that need to be pushed so it can be released but I’m not sure if I have to drop the headliner or if I can release that clip without dropping the headliner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as the dealership (2 of them) stay the don’t do sound proofing and that this rattle is just the way it is.

Just use credit card or something thin push clip in and pull housing down comes out no need to pull headliner to get out.

ok yeah that’s what I was thinking I just have to figure out which side the clip is on.
I tried that initially before I saw the picture of the part and knew where the clip was and was unsuccessful cause I didn’t know where the clip was.
But now that I have that picture of the part the clip is either on the front or back.
anyone know which side that clip is on?

50/50 chance but I would try the front. Thinking it would be easier during assembly to plug the connector then insert towards the rear of the vehicle and then snap the front of the piece upwards. Also would make it easier to pull out if there was an issue. If you have any plastic pry tools, for trim, that might work better than a credit card.

thanks for your insight
I do have some pry tools that I can use
The connector in there rattles so bad when going over bumps or loud music.
I’m thinking wrap it in some foam or something to stop the rattle. The nose is coming from the connector hitting the roof inside the headliner. Either that or secure it somehow.
Any ideas again would be appreciated always like to brainstorm with likeminded people willing to help.
The rattle is driving me off the deep end haha
Thanks again for your reply

Depends on the connector, but maybe a piece of double sided foam tape could be used to secure it. The foam could act as padding, but I have no idea what type of space you’ll have to work with.
