Don't have my BS OB yet but I was wondering on the alerts you get when backing out of a parking spot, does this work when people are behind you? How about shopping carts?

I can’t speak for shopping carts, but I do know when a person walks behind the car when it’s in reverse the beeping Will Go Off.

It depends on the system installed. The cross-traffic alert system senses moving vehicles approaching when you are backing up. It's meant to help when backing out of a parking spot when you can't see down the aisle past the car next to you. It doesn't sense objects as small as people or shopping carts. The rear parking aid system, however, senses all objects, stationary or moving, and will alarm if you approach something too closely.

I have been in my driveway, backing into the garage, and as a car comes down the road, clearly not a threat, the alarm does go off. Not annoying, so I'd say it does help a lot.
