For the last year my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid mileage dropped to about 18.2 mpg. The hybrid system was working properly so issue had to be related to the engine. I try to do DYI for most of maintenance, so with no codes I decided to replace my fuel injectors rather than clean them. After that, mpg increased to 24 mpg.- making progress but still not fixed. Well recently I got an engine code that the thermostat was stuck open. I decided to let AAA replace after evaluating all the stuff that had to removed to fix it. Now, mpg is back up to 30 mpg again.
