I tried this last week. Went through the steps and it seems to have helped. It's still not perfect and it seems to be reverting to "hesitation" the longer I drive but it's better than it was. I might have to try it again...
It seems that driving it in ECO mode helps with the stutter also. I agree, it's annoying. I came from a Nissan Maxima V6 CVT that was completely smooth. I'm having a hard time getting used to the Turbo 4 in my Badlands.

Extra little touch. I just painted my front recovery hooks so they stand out a little instead of black. Now they match the trim, tires & roof rack. Very easy with a can of Krylon paint that I had & masked it off with painting tape. Took about 15 min.
Finally pulled the trigger & swapped mine: 245/65/r17 Back Country AT. Kept the stock Badlands rims. I wanted the retro look so I kept the white letters out.
This is the exact complaint that I have right now. Love pretty much everything else about my Badlands but I came from a Nissan Maxima V6-CVT that was completely smooth. I find that shifting is MUCH smoother in Eco mode and still has sufficient power for normal driving.
