Bottom line, people that actually own these... don't hook up anything to the auxiliary switches without a relay. The wires to the switches are only rated for 5A!!
What are you saying? Are you in agreement, or saying that I'm wrong. I don't think there is any dispute that the wire guage is not rated for more than 5A, when in a harness. The switches are rated at 10A to 30A, while being wired with 5A wire. You're good with that?
I would not run any lights through this switch system without a relay. The wires are rated for 5A. Use relays for everything that you hookup to this switch system that uses 5A or more. Melted wires in a harness are no fun, and you don't want to go there.
So, based on the rating of the wire used for this 'upfitter' switch system, I would use relays for all switches, and consider them as 5A switches. They are not 10A switches or 30A switches, they are 5 Amp. Ford has done all of us a disservice, and possibly caused melted wiring. Not cool.
I agree on the 10A circuits, but on Aux 1 (30A), I wouldn't want 30A running through the switch and 22AWG wire... 22 Guage wire is rated at 7A in open air, and 5A enclosed (in a harness).
The easiest to access is the one noted as 'D' in the picture from the manual. Just unwrap the electrical tape in that location, and there's the wire. The wire at that location on mine was green/brown, which is Aux 2. The other locations require removal of wheels and are behind the inner fender...
Actually, you don't sandwich the bracket between the hood and hinge. That would raise the hood and screw up the alignment with fenders. The bracket will go between bolts and the hinge assembly :)
