Had a 22 that got totaled around 40k miles after being rear ended. Now I’m in a 23 badlands. Haven’t noticed any fluid up top but then again I’m only at 11k miles.

Can confirm. Noticed the same thing on my Badlands last year and took it to the dealership to be safe. It was nothing but excess transmission fluid that had come out of the vent and collected on top.

Did you ever have any maintenance work done on your transmission, such as fluid changes every 30-40k miles? Lots of posts about transmissions failing around 100k.

Yup.. confirmed it’s just transmission fluid from the fill/breather tube. Great video on how to drain and fill the transmission.

Motorcraft Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant SAE75W-85. I’m pretty sure those with the tow package have a transmission cooler. Mine’s the non-tow package so I haven’t done much research into it.

Yeah should be a much more straightforward process since the 1.5 doesn’t have the PTU cooler. Just a drain plug and fill plug.

A rock hit my hood this morning on the highway and left a big dent and scratch. Not a happy camper.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Took it to Ford today and they believe it’s transmission fluid based off color/smell. Left it with them so hopefully I’ll get it back in the next couple weeks..
