Had a 22 that got totaled around 40k miles after being rear ended. Now Iām in a 23 badlands. Havenāt noticed any fluid up top but then again Iām only at 11k miles.
Can confirm. Noticed the same thing on my Badlands last year and took it to the dealership to be safe. It was nothing but excess transmission fluid that had come out of the vent and collected on top.
Did you ever have any maintenance work done on your transmission, such as fluid changes every 30-40k miles? Lots of posts about transmissions failing around 100k.

Iām pretty sure those with the tow package have a transmission cooler. Mineās the non-tow package so I havenāt done much research into it.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Took it to Ford today and they believe itās transmission fluid based off color/smell. Left it with them so hopefully Iāll get it back in the next couple weeks..
