I just got this email from Ford. Funny thing is, I never ordered a 2022 Maverick. Another blunder in the system at Ford. OR.....and this is a stretch, but plausible....The dealer I placed my BSBL order at used my information (DL ID and signature from BSBL order), to make a bogus order for their dealer inventory that looks like a custom order in the system to speed it up.

That is entirely plausible. Crazier stunts have been pulled by dealers. Although it would be extremely dumb on their part to enter YOUR email address on the order, knowing you would get the updates.

I’d let it ride and keep track of it. When it finally arrives at the dealer, just for kicks, I’d show up and tell them you are there to check out your new specially ordered Maverick! Watch their jaws start flapping because surely by then they would’ve already had a deal in place with another buyer.

Right, I kind of hope they did use my info so I can blow it up in their face.

Entirely plausible - using your info, not all dealers are "above board". I retired from Ford, so am eligible for "A" Plan. There are rules tied to A Plan - basically family. Have had various dealers want me to use an A Plan Authorization for their customers - that I had no idea who they were. Some even offered shall we say an incentive. If caught, an employee faces losing their A Plan privileges, Dealers can lose privilege to sell A Plan, and some had - for several years.

And related to the Email ( with exception to the wrong vehicle ), appears there was a mass mailing yesterday to customers with orders. It's the subject in at least one other thread. Had one in my mailbox this morning - first communication from Ford since Order Confirmation 12/13.

Since we are talking about car dealers here, you can't rule that out. You should get further emails from Ford about this phantom Mav if indeed the dealer used your info to place an order.

I received this email for my Bronco Sport Badlands last night. Glad I finally heard something from them about it.

I also received this order update today, for an order placed by a dealer without my knowledge or consent. I told Ford about this when first contacted about this bogus order, but it obviously didn't have much effect.

I've had my 2022 Big Bend, from another dealer, since December.

I stand corrected - Z Plan :)

Z z.. the last letter in the alphabet, end of the line - kind of where I feel I am in build priority. There are a number of other threads on that topic. Though there are a few with orders in the Waiting Room or Badlands Order threads that were placed a bit before me, I'm slowly moving to the front of the end of the line.

Take a test drive and start talking them down on the price.
Then ask for a second test drive.
Next tell them you changed your mind and they owe you the down payment since you didn’t authorize the order.
then tell them you want to re negotiate the deal.
Somewhere in this debacle they will tell you it was all an error on their part.
Now is the time you say, “Hold the phone !”
point to a salesman you’ve never spoken to and say, “He said I could have it for $21,000 out the door”.
Then say, “Gotcha” hahaha thanks for the test drive.
Now you know how my brain works. Life is far too short to allow anything to be easy or normal.

I did something like this in 1993. I went to a Ford dealer in Oxnard CA with a friend of mine. His dad told him if he finds an F250 with xyz find out how much they want or will take for it. This was a truck already on the lot, a salesman walks out and I start talking. My friend just kept his mouth shut.

I talked to the salesman a bit and said we have this as a down payment, we want this as our payment for x amount of years. The total of which added up to one thousand less then listed.

He said we can do that. When we walked into the show room and brought the deal to the manager he found out how bad he messed up.

They first said no way we can honor that deal. I then pushed it and said is he a legal sales person for your dealership, if so he agreed to this deal just like I did.
They honored it, and found financing for zero percent interest. He had great credit and this worked out for him.

As for the OP If I understand it correctly you will get a VIN number when it is starting to be built. Take this to the dealership when and ask for a total price etc.

Are you sure your BSBL is ordered?
All I can say for mine is, placed order 12/13 and had an Email from FoMoCo before I got home from my 10 minute drive.

Yup, constrained now. But not so for some orders placed after mine that have the same content and been VIN'd, Scheduled, Built and or delivered.
