I think I saw some underbody covers I can salvage from that car :)

The car performed very well in all the tests

I’m sure if I add some sound deadening mats in the door it will even do better:)

it also survived rolling off a mountain pass decently. I assume all of you have seen that video

Ford should have given that women and her dog a new Bronco Sport for taking the BS down the side of the mountain, sitting in for the crash dummy. She had no seat belts on and got ejected out of the car. Not sure she would have lived if she rode the Bronco 🐴 down the face of the mountain. That accident was one of the reasons i purchased the BS.

I wonder now. Maybe that is something Ford would purchase the wreck off the insurance co to study it. Here I was thinking though that she was in the car when it rolled. I must’ve missed that part of the story.

She was driving in the car without seat belts. She got ejected - tossed out from the windshield after a few tumbles and the dog 🐕 was smart enough to jump out the window when he knew her driving was crap in a basket 🧺

Now I think the discussion has gone far enough that you are required to post a video link. ;)

thanks...yes, this video.

I sometime call the town name Telluride --> "TheHellURide". beautiful place!...but it did not end beautiful for that driver.

There is another video of showing a jeep roll off the same pass. Watch this patiently you can appreciate how narrow and dangerous this road is....or you can skip to 3:20...

drive safe out there my friends!

....just thinking of these...if I want to get up there, I guess a mtn bike is the best option. maybe an eMTB with cushy suspension and big disc brakes. that fire road is plenty wide for a mtn bike. I rarely ride on narrow single tracks with exposures now....for that reason. getting old and not enjoying that anymore.

That will get your attention!

I hope the woman is OK.

We have friends in Colorado and we've driven on some pretty hairy roads, but nothing quite like that. We're always in our Sprinter-based RV (not ginormous, but way too big for roads like Black Bear Pass). That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Seriously, that is not my idea of a good time. I would HIKE that road but not drive it -- not for "fun" anyway.

We've been on a lot of smaller mountain roads out west on the edge of steep slopes or cliffs with drops of several hundred feet (or more). Most don't bother me. I prefer guardrails but if the road is wide enough (standard lanes with at least a couple feet of shoulder) I'm OK without them. The only road that really had me concerned was US 550 near Ouray:

Ford Bronco Sport Frontal Collision NHSTA crash test results 1653340760295

That's not the worst section, just what I found with a quick search.

When you're in an RV with mirrors sticking out over a foot and you have a semi coming toward you at 60 mph, that road seems awfully narrow! There are places where there is not even a white line because the blacktop has fallen away.

They repaint the centerline on that road more than any other road, or so I have been told. Everyone on the cliff side lane hugs the centerline and wears it off. It is very easy on a motorcycle (the only way I’ve been down that road).
