We all know that choosing the perfect spot to mount your dash cam can make a huge difference in the coverage and clarity it provides. Some of you swear by the traditional windshield mount, others find creative spots that work even better for their vehicles.

Since both electronics and lenses don't like heat, and I live in Miami, I place my forward facing camera high up on the windshield where it can be protected by the outline of the front seat lighting and rearview mirror apparatus. When I park, I quickly unclick the camera from its magnet base and tuck it on top of the rearview while I slide my window screen in front of everything.

I can appreciate a dash mount, but the ease of the magnet to sticker to window, is too good to pass up. And obviously the sticker won't hold up on the dash as well. I know they sell some good dash mounts out there, but its never really something I've looked into since the magnet stickers are like $5 each.

Again, I think the key for me is that if you don't take measure to protect your camera, and you just leave it out on the windshield or near the windshield in full sun exposure all the time ... the camera will not last you very long.
