Hi All,

Earlier this week my wife and I bought a BS Badlands with the Premium Package, Co-Pilot360+, and the towing package (surprisingly, that combo was hard to find). However, When looking at the key I noticed that doesn't have the button to pop the back hatch. My daughter has a 2022 Outer Banks and her key does have a trunk button on the key. Do I have the wrong key or did Ford just stop putting the trunk unlock buttons on the keys?

Weird...

My key lists part number: M2DT-15K601-CB
Which.... According to parts.ford.com isnt compatible with the BS. Tasca Auto Parts shows it is for the full size Bronco. I do have remote start button but no trunk button.

On Tasca, the associated keyfob part numbers are:
M1PZ-15K601-A
Through
M1PZ-15K601-D

On ebay, -A shows trunk open button but no remote start.
On ebay, someone seems to be listing a -B which has trunk and remote start buttons but states its only for 2021-2022 full size Bronco and BS.

Ford's site lists all 4 of those as not compatible with the BS (-A through -D).

Definitely more research is needed.

The lift gate isn't powered, so you have to lift it by hand even if you unlock it using the fob. Some the lift gate unlocks with intelligent access the button on the fob is really superfluous.

Which brings me to a question I’ve always wanted to ask. I know there is a button next to the headlight control to unlock the back. Does pressing this button unlock the hatch itself or just the liftgate glass?

My 24 BS Badlands does not have a button on the key fob to unlock the rear hatch. I do have a button on the left side of the dash to unlock the rear hatch which only unlocks it so it can be opened by someone who is at the rear hatch.

Thank you. Looks like a change from the 22's since my daughters OBX has the button. It's not a big deal at all since it isn't a power tailgate but just seemed weird.

The problem you are likely to encounter is that right side button on the rear hatch which unlocks the hatch may stop working.

Your keyfob which doesn't have the button to pop the back hatch means the following procedure (SSM 50452) will not work to restore the right side button on the rear hatch allowing that button to work.

SSM 50452: Procedure for keyfob with x2 button to unlock back hatch

What might work for keyfobs without the x2 button is stated in Post #40: https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/liftgate-does-not-open-with-intelligent-access-but-glass-does.3081/

ha yeah. I remember that from the OBX we had previously and I had to do that procedure and is what made me really think of it initially.

My '21 had it. Ford has been removing features every year since '21.

My thoughts exactly. I have a 21 BL and have never used the button. If the fob is in range, simply lift the hatch.

I have a 2023 Outer banks and it has no button for the tailgate on the remote. it would kind of be useless even if it did as the gate will not lift on its own so you have to grab it and lift it anyways.
