I've seen threads like this on other forums and didn't see one here. It can be interesting to see someone's vehicle progressions or all the interesting cars they've owned.

I'll go first!

My first car was a 1989 Nissan Pulsar NX I bought while still in high school in maybe 1998. The paint was fadedhe T tops leaked. The a/c didn't work until the day I sold it. But it was a fun car until I sold it before going off to college. I didn't have a camera back then so you just get this ad I found online.

I replaced that with a brand new 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 Hot. I had that until 2010 and almost 200,000 miles. The only issues were the a/c (they get used a LOT in South Texas) and I couldn't shift into 3rd gear. Sorry, only pic I have is with my breakfast going on some school trip.

I sold that and bought my late grandfather's Ford Taurus. I think it was in 2003. It had a lot less miles but the engine died on me, so I sold it to CarMax.

I traded the Taurus in for a 2000-something Nissan Maxima. I always had a love for Maximas but when I was driving home, I just didn't feel comfortable in it. The infotainment/dash layout felt cheap but it was a very expensive car. It just didn't sit right with me. So I took it back a few days later.

CarMax was great, no pressure, but I needed a car. I came across this 2006 Honda Accord EX. I didn't like them back in 2003/4 but in 2012, it looked great. So far, it's been one of my favorites.

That car was totaled when I hit a black cow in the middle of a FM road at midnight. When I was laying in the hospital, I was already looking at 2006 Accords to replace it with. In hindsight, I wish I had found one a little newer since this was a couple of years after I bought the first one. But I found this great 2006 Accord EX-L navi 5sp manual that I couldn't pass up. I had that car from 2013 until 2023 and 206,000 miles until a bolt snapped when I was replacing the VTEC solenoid. It's going to be a pain to take out and I was planning to replace it in June, so I got on the road to look for an Accord or Passport to replace it with.

The newer Hondas just didn't buzz me and I turned around and saw the BS. It was on the higher end of my budget but it was the color I wanted. The other two they had were black and that light blue Heritage one. So far, I'm liking it, even though the first couple of days I couldn't eat. I sort of wish I had looked for one with the Convenience Package but I didn't even know which packages or trims were available. Usually I'll do hours of research when buying a toaster or Keurig but this was one of the most impulsive buys ever. I guess it's a good thing there aren't many accessories or anything else to add on it to keep me from spending extra cash.

So it's me so this is going to be a really long post. Feel free to skip it.

Well, the car that got me into the whole soft roader craze was a 2005 MDX with 198,000 miles in 2016 IIRC, and those have the vtm-4 system. So it basically has a rear diff that's electronic and it's kind of like the Badlands rear diff where it can vary torque to each wheel and you can press a button and it locks like a locking differential.

Although that system is kind of fragile but it is still an amazing all-wheel drive system and with some slightly oversized falken ATW3 tires a small lift and that stock all wheel drive system. I went to so many places that I would have never thought I could take anything but a "real off-roader".

Also, lots of my family have had some version of it, be it an MDX, a ridgeline or a pilot and all of them went to at least 200,000 mi with no major problems and they drive well, although the gas mileage isn't great. I think 20 mph at best and the Ridgeline has some pretty cool tricks.

Later I got a 2014 Ford escape titanium all-wheel drive with the 2.0 engine and I didn't know the 2.0 was so great, I had just read a bunch of horror stories about the other engines.

Driving that escape is what made me realize how nice this platform was as an all-around car. In fact, right before the bronco sport came out. That's exactly what I was trying to turn my escape into. I had off-road tires a little lift. I also had every focus ST bolt on that I could get to work on the escape but I didn't really help it off road but it was still pretty fun and it was pretty surprising how fast you could get those to go. I never took mine to the track but as close as I could tell I was able to get it to do like a 14 second quarter mile.

And that's basically what led me to the bronco sport. Wanting a car that can still do everything: a comfortable daily driver, go kind of fast and hear the blowoff valve woosh, but also getting good gas mileage, cheap insurance, knowing that if I get in an accident it's a pretty safe vehicle and being able to go off-road. I got t-boned by a Honda pilot going like 40 mph from what the police thought and me at a dead stop and all I got was a seat belt rash while my car actually got turned 270° the other way and tipped onto two wheels and almost rolled over. They hit me so hard that I hit another car and that person broke their orbital socket and they weren't even the primary person that got hit, So I feel pretty safe in it or as safe as I can with Arizona's crazy drivers

And while I wish I still had my full-size bronco sometimes, this just fits me a lot better and I don't need a ladder to get in it and my dog doesn't balk at having to jump in.

Edit: This post really needs pics…
This post might be better with pics but I’ll try without to keep it short. It seems I’ve increased trading cars recently.

1998-2007: 1998 GMC Sierra. It was pretty well miled & aged out. Time to trade for an upgrade.
Ford Bronco Sport What did you own before your Bronco Sport? 1681528464888

2007-2016: 2007 Ford F150. It was getting up there & seemed big for the city. Wish I’d kept it, I’d still be driving it I’m sure. The best vehicle I’ve owned, though the Acura was up there too.
Ford Bronco Sport What did you own before your Bronco Sport? 1681528518578

2012-2017: 1989 Mustang. GT vert, great 3 season 2nd car. Had a lot of fun with it, & while I don’t want to say I should’ve kept it…
Ford Bronco Sport What did you own before your Bronco Sport? 1681528602373

2016-2022: 2007 MDX. Awesome find when heading into winter with the mustang after selling the F150. Sold to my neighbor whose kids are still driving it when I no longer needed to keep 2 cars.
Ford Bronco Sport What did you own before your Bronco Sport? 1681529502011

2017-2020: 1993 Explorer. Good 4 season 2nd car after the Mustang. Died despite low miles & being well cared for. Still, that’s >25 years old.
Ford Bronco Sport What did you own before your Bronco Sport? 1681528798325

2020-2022: 2020 Explorer. Maybe another one I should’ve just kept, but it never felt like mine being bought mostly for my ex.

2022-202?: 2022 Bronco Sport.

This is kind of what led me to the BS. I was cross shopping Accords but I really wanted a Passport. I test drove a couple but they felt too big and bulky. I didn’t need all that for a single guy that works all the time. I was hoping I’d use it to go find a hobby but the BS was more practical and fun to drive.

I had a very reliable 08 corolla 5 speed with over 300k miles. Got rid of it because it needed a new transmission etc and didn’t want to throw money at it which led me to buy a 21 bronco sport as my commuter car. I also own a 19 ram 1500.

So the 2022 Badlands is my first new car, everything else has been a handmedown.

What I was driving prior to this though:
1994 Chevy S-10 (that thing hated me and I hated it)

2000 Jeep Wrangler (I was in high school so I wasn't sure what model it was, super basic though, not even abs which makes driving to school fun...also hated the color, soooo happy my mom bought it and gave it to us, what a fun car for teenagers who are bashful to drive....)

2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 (my dads car prior, loved it, drove it until it literally started falling apart)

2012? Volvo V70. Sold that when I graduated grad school. Actual car. Sold it while the tranny was failing. Fun story the day before I was going to sell it I decided to go fishing on snowpacked back roads in Wisconsin because stupid and stressed. Naturally it failed on the freeway on the way there and I was almost stuck in Saint Paul (I was attending school at UMN). Got it going again, decided to keep going fishing because stupid. The next day I made to drive it long enough where all my and the cars chakras were aligned so it was working normally again and thankfully it didn't fail during the test drive. It was a dirt cheap sell so I didn't feel that bad about it and I was in a desperate situation.

In Between then and getting the BroncoSport I was either driving a family members Audi SQ5 or VW GTI
