I've owned a 2022 Bronco Sport for about a year now. Bought with 38,000 miles and have since put on 24,000 driving a long compute over the last year. Dealt with what seems like the common issues (squeaky brakes in reverse, bad battery, etc.).

Took it to the dealership this week to finally have all the recall issues taken care of and they let me know that the water pump was leaking. Seems like this is also a pretty common issue. Unfortunately, I'm just over warranty on the power train at 62,000 miles so the water pump replacement isn't covered.

Was hoping some of yall might have some advice - maybe on disputing the replacement being covered under warranty or ways to fix it that don't involve paying $700+

Any and all advice is welcome, thanks!

You are out of warranty so you’ll have to negotiate with Ford…

See this:
https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/2021-big-bend-water-pump-leaked-into-a-c-compressor-requiring-replacement-of-both.14846/post-239252

Also the owner later posted a 50:50 split in cost was negotiated (but remember Ford itself doesn’t pay full price like your price is so it’s not really a 50:50 split in that case)

Repeated info posted:
since you are out of warranty it is advisable to contact (1) your service department, (2) your regional service manager (you can get the name of that person from your dealership service department) and (3) Ford Customer Service. Contacting all 3 and asking for either full compensation for the repairs or at least 50:50 cost sharing might work in your favor.

Hands it actually pretty easy to replace yourself. My cousin husband works as a tech at a Ford dealer and can do them now in about 30-40 minutes. Also I'd you want to know what I did to stop the squeaky brake let me know I can explain that.
