My daughter has a 2021 BS with the 1.5 L engine. The water pump has fail. It was leaking but there was no indication from the warning system. She only knew it was not heating the inside of the car. Fortunately it is still under warranty. Watch for no heat as a warning sign.

classic tell tale sign of low coolant or thermostat stuck open. get rid of that thing before warranty is up
Why? It is known that some 1.5's had a water pump issue, and that they were under a silent recall, meaning when they fail, the dealer replaces under warrantee. As long as the system is properly flushed, the new upgraded water pump will be fine.

If you get a flat tire, will you also suggest getting rid of the 1.5 equipped Bronco Sport?

It's 2025. Lets start a new year resolution in that we no longer have haters of the 1.5 on this forum.

We could hope, but it'll never happen. We won't even make it to Quitter's Friday . Cheers!

I had one of the original 1.5 water pumps. Bought the upgraded spare just to have on hand in case they were backordered if I needed a replacement and I was in the middle on nowhere. That Sport is gone and the new unused pump is sitting in the box on the workbench.

Or don't, that's just my advise. Seems like 90% of I have an issue threads here are sports equipped with the 1.5L. Not hating, just facts. Water Pumps, and catalytic converters are expensive.

If you think water pumps and catalytic converters are expensive wait until you have to replace a headlight! 💵💵💵
oh i know it, these new cars are nice and bright, especially since ford bothered to actually equip ours with projectors. reflector only housings with LEDs dont seem to have much R&D and do nothing but scatter light everywhere, and the jewel eye style projectors are even worse if you are oncoming traffic. But unfortunately since ours are all led sealed units, they are basically doomed to be scrapped and replaced. I've thought about once these LEDs burn out i might play with HID retrofit ideas.

Not sure if I'd be willing to downgrade my rig's headlights with an HID retrofit. Custom LED are out there. Many although Chinesseium, are 1/2 the $$ of an OE unit. At my age, I need all the light I can get to safely drive in the dawn, dusk and at nighttime. Hopefully in March when I get my cataracts removed, low light driving won't be an issue anymore.

I heard there was a batch of bad water pumps from Melling. Mine went at 3k miles On 2023 BB. No problem since.

That TSB covers ‘21-‘24… some of the similar TSBs on the topic previously didn’t list the 2024s

LED projectors and HID projectors are definitely different. I personally like the warmer light of 5000k hid lamp over the 6000k hospital light feel of LEDs. Even with the slight warm up HID have, I like them better. You get color flicker on your cutoff which is just sexy, also, not that there has been a documented issue with iced up headlamps, but I think it would be better to have some heat behind the lenses for that reason.

I suppose it all boils down to preference, I personally haven't had an issue with my lights icing. I'M in the Buffalo NY area, so we get our fair share of cold weather

I bet 90% of Sports sold are 1.5L or pretty close. Of course there are more 1.5Ls with issues. There are a helluva lot more of them.
