Watch a Jeep Grand Cherokee Get KO’d by Lightning in Terrifying Video

A family traveling north of Waverly, Kansas found that out the hard way last month. While traveling through an area facing a thunderstorm, their Jeep Grand Cherokee was struck by a terrifying series of lightning bolts which fried the vehicle's electronics but reportedly left its passengers unharmed. The entire thing was captured on a dash cam, and the video is quite powerful.

People don't often realize the tires protect you from grounding the electric. It's scary as crap but unless the car is on fire or you are in imminent danger its safer to stay in the vehicle until emergency services arrive to discharge the energy. Touch the car and step on the ground it can kill you from the juice.
