My lil 4 cyl BS is losing my attention. I’d like closer to 300hp and a better exhaust sound, but absolutely want any mods to be OEM warranty friendly. Do warranty friend tunes or intakes exist? Share suggestions, brands, results, photos, and things to watch out for; oh and costs help too. Pic of my First Edition

The stated specs for a stock ‘21-‘24 2.0L exceed the 8F35 transmission stated specs… see posts on that topic. You could see warranty issues if a boosted 300hp engine were found to be a reason to deny warranty on a transmission issue.

The warranty docs Ford publishes are pretty clear: any vehicle modification that results in damage will not be covered under warranty. If I recall, software modifications are specifically mentioned.

Ford Performance (note this is not Ford Motor Company, which considers parts from Ford Performance to be aftermarket) and a few other aftermarket parts vendors offer warranted software mods for some of Ford's performance oriented vehicles, but most are very limited. They apply only during the vehicle's first 3 yrs/36K miles. In other words, if you install a warranted tune when your vehicle has 30K miles, you get another 6K of warranty from the software vendor. After that, you revert to your New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which expressly excludes coverage for aftermarket parts and software.

To answer your specific question, I'm not aware of any warranted software mods for the 2.0L EcoBoost used in the Bronco Sport.

Yes, that is always a question, mod or no mod. There are many things you can do that do not void your warranty concerning Intake and Exhaust mods. Concerning exhaust, as long as you do not touch the catalytic convertor you can modify anything behind it, re: Cat Back Exhaust Systems. There are no limitations or warranty concerns. Concerning the Intake, as long as you do not remove any sensors, re: MAF and/or other sensors and maintain the level of air filtration that a OEM setup does than there are no warranty concerns. That is not to say your dealer might push back if there is evidence your modified Intake or exhaust is the cause of a malfunction or code event.

Concerning software modifications, that is more complicated. If your 300hp software upgrade is related to a catastrophic failure of a head gasket, transmission, PTU, RDU or any number of other potential mechanical failures you will most likely be out of luck concerning a warranty repair. That is a risk assesment only you can make. Here is a link to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. It explains in detail what the consumer is allowed to do without sacrificing your warranty coverage.

Sadly this is what I understood and was afraid to verify. This said I fear my BS days may be limited. Thank you all for the responses

I took our Bronco (AFE intake, Magnaflow exhaust, and a bunch of other mods) in for recall work and water pump replacement. They had no problem with any of the mods. Tech even called to ask if I had a tune, as he didn’t want to wipe it when doing the update.

Try a JMS Pedal Max or any other similar throttle device it greatly improves the Throttle Response and makes the BS with the 1.5 Eco Boost much more enjoyable to drive. It doesn't add Horsepower but makes it feel like 50 Horsepower more.

Sounds like a cool Tech keep going back to that dealer if that Tech stays their.

Why? Because you can't modify it?

I am amazed at just how peppy my 1.5 liter Outer Banks is.

I may try putting a cat back exhaust on it, change the intake and see how that goes. Mine is the 2.0 and while peppy Im missing my previous 300hp sounds.

Yes, that can happen. Some dealership service departments are far more forgiving when it comes to mods than others. That said, none of the components related to the work you listed are affected by a tune. How would your dealership react if you blew a head gasket or burned up your turbo?

I personally don't find the Badlands lacking in power. I more often than not run 91 octane fuel, you can feel the difference.
For extra punch around town sport mode will get your attention especially if the wheels aren't quite pointed straight and mashing the gas pedal.
With a decent cold air intake setup, free flow
cat back exhaust and 91 or higher octane fuel the Badlands will run pretty good.
