Going to get some Toyo Open County AT3 installed this week and was wondering if anyone has some insight into the differences between 235/65/17 vs 245?

One of my main concerns is that the 245's will be juuussst a tiny bit too big to fit comfortably in the spare tire well.

My other concern is that the 235's wont look as beefy as the 245's, but they're so close in size I can't see there being a big difference.

Not every manufacturer is exactly the same, but this gives you the general idea.

I have the 245s. Take the padding out and the spare fits fine. I love these tires.

I think 245’s look a lot beefier than 235’s.
I got the 235’s to keep my roll out final drive ratio closer to stock.
I like my acceleration and mpg’s better than the beefy look. I got the 1.5L and like it just fine.
If I had the 2.0L 245’s would have been my choice.

The 245's will also give you a tad more ground clearance.

Might as well go the 245. Price is roughly the same and they fit lifted or stock without any issues

Update: I ended up getting the 235/65/17's for the simple reason that they were in stock at my go-to tire shop and would have taken a week or two to order the 245's.

I absolutely love the look of the AT tires on the bronco sport and there seems to be basically no compromise for swapping from the stock tire. I noticed that the bronco seems to have more responsive steering and better cornering with the new tires, and for some reason I went from ~11L/100km to 9.8L/100km average shortly after the swap. Road noise is probably louder, but it's negligible. Probably notice it most at very low speeds because the TOYO's seem to hold onto gravel and rocks more than the Pirelli's. There is a lot less sliding around on the crappy gravel roads around here, but it's not quite 100% stable, which is probably more to do with the short wheelbase than anything.

Overall I am super happy with the new TOYO Open Country AT3's and am actually surprised by how much more enjoyable the Bronco is to drive now.

The stock Pirelli's seem like decent tires so I'm thinking they were setup poorly at the dealership or something. They will find a new home on the wife's RAV4 so they will not go to waste!

With the 235's there is basically no compromise over the stock tires, and in fact feel way better overall, which may or may not also be true for the 245's. I believe that the 245's would 100% look better than the 235's if looks are a priority. If you are just in it for the chunky offroad-y look, definitely take a look at the BFG KO2's as those give a way beefier look than the TOYO's. For me, the Bronco Sport is my daily/highway vehicle and I needed the tires to perform well in dry/snowy weather since we get wildly oscillating weather here in the spring/fall where it can feel like full blown winter one day and summer the next day, so the TOYO's just fit the bill for performance and MPG. We're going to be offroading quite a bit next week so I can update again after that if there's any interest.

Thinking of upgrading myself. I have the Pirelli’s. I took my BS back to service because the dealer had failed to correctly set the tire pressure after delivery. My tires were between 40 and 42 psi. Service set them to 35. I know 33 is the recommended, but I had to drive 40 minutes to get there and it was in the 70’s outside. I noticed an immediate difference in handling and improved mpg.

UHM???!!! Really? A tire gauge can cost as little.

Honestly, I had to go that way so why not let them do the work? 60 year old female with back issues and knee issues. I’ll let the young’un’s in service do what should have already been done.

So you can now completely close the lid?
Yea. See the photo I posted it closes the whole way. 245’s are the way to go. No reason not to.

All depends on what you consider significant. If it is capability, no. 1/4inch of ground clearance won’t make a world of difference IMO. The height and width differences are unnoticeable. What makes the most difference is the tread style and edge style. The KO2’s look the best to me because they have a much more aggressive tread and corner. When you compare the Wildpeak 235’s to the Wildpeak 245’s, the 245’s look much beefier only because of the edges in my opinion. The physical size difference are a very small percentage.

The motor is smaller and it can handle the 245 but then you will lose a lot of the power that they already have a limited amount of power. There is not much of a difference in the two but it is noticeable in the smaller motor
