Pretty good review but no off-road or snow testing yet.

As this post is getting a little traction, pun intended, I thought I'd post a review by my favorite Tire (Tyre) Reviewer, TyreReviews.com . I am, actually, a monthly contributor $, to him.
He does actual off road tests and while he's not doing mud bogs or rock crawling, not many of us are doing those, in our Bronco Sports. He does test on dirt and gravel roads and snow and ice.
Do yourself a favor and check out his channel.

Given most of us spend 90% or better of our miles on-road, this is interesting info. However, for that 10% off-road--for which these are ostensibly designed--that's where a tire's performance is proportionally more critical.

Assuming one drives rationally and appropriately, on-road the performance differences shouldn't pose much of an issue. But, if your quiet and otherwise well-behaved tire is compromised in it's off-road performance, then none of those docile characteristics matter.

So if you're limited to one set of tires for your rig, where do you strike the balance? Are you willing to put up with stiffer ride and more noise, or are you fine with limiting the trails you're inclined to tackle?

For myself, I'm going to give the BFG Trail-Terrain a close look if the stock shoes don't quite fit the bill. Luckily, I'll have about 40,000 miles to decide. :)

I put the Cooper discoverer road and trail t/a on mine this fall, all I can say is they are the most overall impressive tires I have ever used. they guys at the tire shop told me they would be shaking it up once people started using them and they were right.
I just went through 4 snowstorms since Christmas traveling to work and back on the Coquihalla highway ( highway to hell fame) and while everyone else was driving 40 to 50mph I was able to maintain the speed limit (75mph) with out any concerns what so ever. I have never had a tire that good in slush, packed snow and ice. plus it is all weather so I don't have to switch over tires in spring and fall anymore.

No concerns at all? A 25-35 mph differential between you and other traffic seems like cause for concern.

Maybe while on the Katy Freeway section of Interstate 10 (I-10) in Houston, Texas which has up to 18 lanes and the widest parts have 26 lanes when including feeders and on my drives on Southern California freeways it seems like an 80+ mph delta is common
But of course that’s not what Stircrazy was referring to 😬

no its 3 lanes and everyone was in the right lane and traffic is probably very light compared to what your used to when the coq is busy you might see 8 vehicles bunched up. a far cry from when I drove to Disney land and back haha..

for me driving at that time it is pass a couple rigs, a couple miles later pass a car or two and so on.. when I do have to slow down is when the rigs start spinning out, they basically shut down the highway even though they are not allowed in the left lane when there are 3 lanes here they still go there and block everyone. so then you are reduced to very slow speeds weaving in and out of trucks that are stopped trying to put chains on and get unstuck.

Thanks for posting this review. I have used Vredestiens before on a Volvo wagon, they are hreat in the snow.

The orange peel paint on the Toyota is pretty extreme.

If you're not willing to put up with stiffer ride and more noise, might I suggest a Prius instead of an SUV

I wasn’t aware this was an either/or proposition.

Ever since researching my tyre purchase a few months back, I’ve fallen down a bit of a rabbit hole of all terrain tyre reviews, so this video popped up pretty much straight away for me.

It’d be nice to get a bulk objective tyre test from somewhere like Tire Rack or Tyre Reviews, covering the popular options for ā€œmid-roadersā€ (Bronco Sport, Crosstrek, Compass, Rav 4 TRD, etc), so in that 225-235, 60-65, 17-18 kind of size area.
I’m happy with my tyres but I haven’t seen that many reviews of them and it’d be interesting to see how they perform compared to their competitors.

You may want to also check out Discount Tire, they have a pretty solid fitment guide to go with an excellent selection and great pricing. There are quite a few locations in Ohio: https://www.discounttire.com/store

Something else to look at (purely for sizing) is the Wheel Sizer at https://www.wheel-size.com/calc. You only think you've gone down a rabbit hole. 😮

I forgot to mention, when I installed the cooper road and trail I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered they were way quieter than the energy conserving passenger car tires were that it came with, and I didn't really notice a difference in ride quality.. maybe the slightest bit, but the BS suspension is tuned to ride like a truck.

When I test-drove a '24 Badlands, I did notice a surprising truck-like quality (which is a good thing, IMHO). Had a more body-on-frame feel than I would have imagined possible. Given my ordered '25 is a Sasquatch, I'm going to venture that'll be a bit more pronounced.

As far as road noise, I'm not concerned. I used to have a Toyota p/u running Dick Cepek's (pre-Mickey Thompson) with essentially zero sound insulation and it never bothered me. Given the Badlands Tech Package includes the noise reduction module, it'll likely be even less of an issue.

Since I'm intending much more off-road mileage going forward, maybe KO3's when it's time to replace the shoes?
