After watching this forum for three years and hearing many horror stories of problems with various components of the BS and some costly repairs
in the $10,000 range for transmissions, RDUs, engines, Turbos, etc. we have been concerned about the long term viability of our 2022, even though
we have only had the original battery die and leave us stranded (fortunately in our garage), but replaced promptly with an AGM by mobile service
from our dealer, the brake noise issue when backing up on a cold start, and some warm as well, and a taillight, also replaced by the dealer. We are
wondering two things,
1) Is the forum mostly a place for complaints about problems and the actual percentage of BS owners experiencing good experiences and no problems?
2) Have any of the issues I have read about and mentioned been addressed by Ford and the 2025 actually a much better quality vehicle for the long run?
Can anybody provide any insights that might help us make our decision?
Also looking at a 2025 Hyundai XRT as well, anybody gone there?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Of course the complain here and facebook BS group will be high. People need to vent, understandable.

For your statistics you are asking for, it is difficult to evaluate... only the die hard fans will take time to create an account and exchange positively here.

I think the switch to the 2025 just for the SYNC4 is worth it. I test drove the 2024 and I found there were still using the tiny sync3 that I had in my Focus ST 2016!!!!

I decided to pre-order instead at that time for the 2025 BL Sasquatch for SYNC4, higher towing capacity, improved off-road modes and underbody protection

2025 use MPC engine (Escape 2023 first year of use) , which is different than the old 2.0L ecoboost. Old 2.0L is reliable, unsure for the MPC.

Most of the issue are gone in the 2024, 2025 is just a minor refresh.

Ford has issued more recalls than any other manufacturer in the past few years. That can mean its cars suck, or it is committed to taking care of its customers. I suspect those who've had problems are more inclined to believe the former, while those with few or no problems the latter. People who have issues tend to flock to online forums to try to find solutions, or as @ELCouz suggests, simply to vent.

It's pretty clear to me that the overwhelming majority of Ford owners are not having a lot of issues and are generally happy with their cars, otherwise Ford would not continue to have so much success making cars.

If you have some spare change go for the badlands trim.

PTU is watercooled vs aircooled. Overall cooling is improved.

Even if the 2.0L is a MPC right now it has been tested for longer (2023) than the 1.5 MPC (2025)
the 2025 2.0 is definitely the MPC engine. Notice the intake is very different

I went with the 2025 Badlands vs a 24 for the MPC engine, metal front bumper, new GOAT mode and Trail Control. And I love the fully digital dash and larger infotainment screen

I was just confirming the 2.0 in the 25 BS is the MPC. Your comment “Even if the 2.0L is a MPC” made it seem you were uncertain the BS had the MPC. :)

Actually, the newer 1.5 MPC was used in the 2023 Escape ST Line (and possibly other Escape configurations). I own one.

Buying an extended warranty would be cheaper than replacing the BS with something new assuming you still like it, but are just worried about longevity. Also remember that facebook and internet forums are basically public trolling and venting spaces. The majority of owners aren't having issues. Especially BL owners vs the 1.5L models.

Random, do you still have all the space in the fenders? 1st gen 2.0 had lots of nooks and crannies in the engine bay to fit things

While some of the 2025 updates are nice, I don't feel the depreciation hit on the 2022 would be worth the trade off for the 2025 model year. Currently there isn't enough data that shows the 2025 Sports are anymore reliable than previous years.
Ford has not been able to get there arms completely around their quality issues.
As someone else has mentioned, you could pay less money and get an extended warranty for your current Badlands and have piece of mind knowing if something were to go wrong you'll be covered.
If the 2025 Sports prove to have better quality and reliability then make the move if still interested.

Yes, even more space with the air filter not being there anymore...

Which is very nice for the trans fluid change or mount things there.

This is my post from yesterday. Note the offers for my 2021 BL with 23k miles.

Carmax in Murrieta by far the best offer at $29K. Ford dealer $22.5k. Quite a difference.

Just info in case you decide to go for the 2025.
