So I have a 2023 Heritage Limited Edition Bronco Sport and as you may have seen in other posts, I’m contemplating a Bronco. There are two of interest, a First Edition and a Heritage Limited Edition.

Knowing the Bronco insurance will be more, I called to inquire. In both cases, my insurance would decrease! That surprised me, especially with the Bronco HLE having a $74k sticker price. (It’s only a slight decrease for the HLE, but still made me go hmmmm.)

That's confusing...but insurance premiums are kind of an enigma and that's why they pay people specifically to underwrite. With the Sport being cheaper and receiving higher safety ratings, I have no idea why the full size would be less.

Collisions in body-on-frame vehicles result in fewer totals, because you can straighten a frame. Unibody vehicles tend to collapse in on themselves, and if the unibody structure gets bent it cannot be straightened. Look through the archives here and you'll read about a lot of totaled Bronco Sports with seemingly light damage.

I can attest to that. And I thought red vehicles were always more. Must be based on number of doors!

The 2 door is way cheaper to insure and that isn’t even accounting for the fact it sits all winter patiently wait for spring! The 11 year old Lexus is more than both!

Insurance costs are also based on the age group that a vehicle is popular with and the claims experience with a particular model. For example, years ago when I bought my 4-cyl automatic Mustang, the insurance premium was higher than a fully loaded Taurus.
I went from a '15 Escape Titanium to my '22 BS OBX and the premium is about the same.

My quest to purchase a Bronco has ended. And so has my three wheeled motorcycle quest. Instead, for the convertible feel, I ordered a …. convertible.

I did not do the Bronco because I simply like the Sport better.
I did not do the CanAm as I promised my wife I would not motorcycle anymore. But after 40 years of two-wheeling, that bug did not want to go away.
I bought a roadster because I’m hoping to get that motorcycle feel but get to keep my Sport.

Also, I like the one I found as it is a 2019 Mazda Miata 30th Anniversary Edition … and you know I love my Limited Editions!

After delivery, detailing, etc, I will get it in late February. Perfect time for it to go straight to storage.

I’ve wrestled with those same questions. My wife no longer cares to ride on the bike. Our roads are junk and too many idiots out there not paying attention to where they are driving. I thought about a Mustang or a Wrangler. When the new Bronco was announced, my decision was made. I’d rather have to climb in and fall out than the opposite at this point in my life. I don’t even like climbing out of the Lexus. That’s one thing great about the Sport. It’s perfect height to slide in and out. Maybe if I was 40 years younger I could easily get in and out of a Miata.

it should be a fun car to go topless in. Way better gas mileage than my 2 door. Hope you have a blast in it Tigger!

That, right there is why I have a Bronco Sport. I looked at the full size, but like the gas mileage better on the Sport, too.

At my age with a bad back I find it easier to climb up into my 05 F150 2WD then to climb into my wife's 21 Bronco Sport. To me it sits to low, like climbing into my 69 Mustang.

There is only one and it is quite fitting for a Tigger!

There were 3,000 made worldwide with 500 in America (but sold out quickly and they allocated another 143 of the 3,000 to the USA). Mine will be 502 of 3000. I really wish Ford did that on their Limited Editions. I’d really like to know where my Heritage Limited is and it really is one of 1966.

Here is one video review that is not too long:
