I've had my BS for 3 months. BIG BEND WITB THE 1.5 3 CYL. It had 40k miles on it when we got it. I justdrove from FL to North Carolina and back. I had a surging issue almost the whole time, regardless of speed or outside temperature. My wife normally drives it and just thought it was normal because she's never had a turbo before. I noticed the tach needle drops every time the car surges. It's like the trans is either slipping or constantly swapping between 2 gears.
I have the factory and an extended warranty, I just cant go 2-3 weeks without a car while the dealership tries to figure it out.

It sure sounds like torque converter shudder.

In my case the surging only happens during a cold start in warmer weather and goes away after a few minutes when I can get over 20 mph. Also I did notice the tach does not move when it happens.

In your case it does sound like it can be the torque converter. On several Ford models the torque converter goes around 50,000 miles. It happened on my 2019 Edge. I also would not leave the car at the dealer for 2 weeks only to hear the they could not duplicate the issue. I suggest first driving with a Forman so that you can duplicate the issue and than make an appointment to have the BS serviced. They would still need the car for at least a couple of days to replace the torque converter but it should't need to be 2 weeks. If you have the Ford ESP you are entitled to a loaner car.

Also if it is something like the torque converter make sure the dealer checks the alignment when done.

From Google: you should have your wheel alignment checked. Replacing a torque converter requires removing the transmission. Because this often involves dropping the vehicle's engine/transmission subframe (or cradle), critical steering and suspension mounting points are often loosened, which can throw the wheel alignment out of specification.
