State Inspection Incomplete because of Missing Program

Went in today for an oil change and MA inspection sticker. Said they couldn't perform the inspection because my 2021 Big Bend is missing a program to talk with the inspection computer (said MA has some new regulation about inspections). Gotta go back in a week for them to install the missing program at a cost of almost $200. Has anyone else heard of this?? I'm not a happy camper.

Are you saying the state of MA is going to install a program into your Bronco Sport at a cost of almost $200?

That makes no sense to me but very interesting!!

are you sure the issue is not the known issue Bronco Sports have with their OBD
system failing to talk to a states emission equipment?

Dealership explained it as my vehicle was not built with this program because it wasn't needed at the time. But now MA needs this program installed in order for my vehicle to speak with the MA inspection computer. Sounds like BS, but looking into it further.

And … (if the emissions issue is different from what is described in CSP 22N15) you cannot be charged if your vehicle is still within the emissions warranty

I went to the dealer and showed the Customer Service Mgr (who use to be our service guy), the papers that were linked here. I told him emissions warranty is 8 yrs. He was very nice and said he'd take care of it. Got appt next week.

Also, my husband has a F250 bought at the same place and got $16 oil changes for life. Ford upped it to $21. I asked how could they do that if it was for life? Said he'd take care of that too. I wish our service guy was as nice as the mgr.
