Sport Mode Throaty Exhaust noise on Badlands

Can someone explain how the exhaust noise works when in Sport Mode?

Some percentage of it is piped-in on the interior speakers. Unclear how much of it is real vs. wishful-audio-thinking. I'd prefer being able to disable it, but it isn't horrible.

It's a high-spinning turbo four with a lot of gears (as in, "busy" transmission). Not much exciting going on with the stock headers / exhaust configuration.

Sport like slippery eco and sand
Are just creative throttle and shift mapping.
The Sound is from some creative integration with your sound system.
BMW was the first to get “caught” doing that. They actually mounted a separate speaker up in the dash so the driver would think it’s the engine.
How do you think they got us to believe a 4 cylinder mustang was powerful???
The V-8 sound of macho power is gone in most cars.
BUT to sell the illusion of performance a car Must sound powerful.
As far as sound the old saying still applies,
“There is no replacement for displacement..
Cutlass Olds, 442 V-8
Ford Mustang 302 V-8 or the Boss
Corvette with the L 82
Dodge Charger 440 Magnum
These young whipper snappers will never know the sound of true power, just the whine of the turbos..
Give me twin Holley 4 barrels with double pump double fuel lines, 3/4 cams and traction bars,,
We used to accept a bet for a drag race, then get out, crawl under our car and uncap the headers, then take some rookie kids cash. Oh my I got old,,,, :,P
FWIW those old horse power engines would not go over well on $3 per gallon gas.
Stay out of the throttle, drive like grandma and get 11 mpg’s.
Get on the throttle and get 5 !!
But then I’m talking about hard to lift your head off the head rest power.
Quarter mile times in the low elevens would mean you went cheap on engine mods.

Running joke about an ex of mine's brothers 8-second (NA V8) car: Don't leave it idling during fill-up, the tank will just keep getting emptier. ;-)
