Had to drive to my 2024 sport from eastern Washington to Vancouver Canada For a vacation. I used premium gas. $91 dollars round trip for gas. One spot for gas was over $6.00 per gallon for gas. Got over 32 mpg with air conditioner on. Thing was full loaded. 3 people, 3 large suitcases, 3 small suitcases. My wife’s electric wheelchair. A backpack, my mom’s cpap machine. Bag with extra battery for wife’s wheelchair. 2.5 ton jack and her walker. This baby holds a lot of stuff. Also extra bag that attaches to my wife’s wheelchair.

Hi. Glad you had a good trip and got good gas mileage. My wife is considering buying one. Why put in premium gas?
Thanks

We just got back from a long road trip from California to Idaho, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Mount Rushmore, Colorado and back to California. Didn’t use premium, but chose not to use the 85 octane they sell at the higher elevations in Northern Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, etc. interesting that the price difference between 85 and 87 was 30-40 cents a gallon. In California it is typically a 10 cent spread between 87-89-92.
Averaged 33.5 mpg according to the car computer, probably a bit below that in reality, but never did the hand calculations.
Great trip, really happy with the way the BS performed, EXCEPT the complete lack of engine braking when using cruise control at lower speeds. I.e. in Yellowstone the max speed limit is 45 and the cruise control couldn’t keep it anywhere near that going downhill - speed would climb up to 60+ if I let it go. At highway speeds of 65 and above it seems to do a much better job of holding speed, especially at 75 and 80 in Wyoming.
We got it in January of 2023 and now have around 38k on it; all trouble free so far.

Do you have the L button in that model year? You can use it to provide engine braking.

The L button shifts down so much that revs jump to like 4500 - 5000, if you use it starting from very slow speeds it will use higher shift points and much higher revs to accomplish “engine braking”. Not a fan when driving around in conditions where cruise control would otherwise be useful.

Agreed it’s not ideal in every situation. It would be great to be able to downshift to the gear you choose, especially in cruise mode.

Just finished my trip from Washington to Texas and back.

Did 4999.8 miles over 85 hours with an average MPG of 22.1.

I had hoped for better, but with the wind, mountains, and my speed it was never gonna happen.
