We returned last week from a 6 day road trip from SoCal, up Hwy 395 along the Eastern Sierra's. So, a little insight on the 2021 BL and how it handled the road trip.

Had stops in Lone Pine and Mammoth with side trips to the Alabama Hills, Mt. Whitney Portal, the Museum of Western Film History, Mammoth Lakes, Manzanar a Japanese WW II internment camp, and Yosemite.

A lot of high elevation changes with separate climbs to Whitney Portal, 8,400 ft, to Mammoth Lakes, 8,200 ft, Tioga Pass into Yosemite from the east, 10,000 ft, and to Glacier Point in Yosemite, 7,000 ft.

Now I know why I got the 2.0L engine. I've had 3 Ford Escapes, all with the 2.0 engine so I'm know how it handles different terrain through the years.

These elevations were not a problem at all. Effortless on all the climbs. There is about 90 miles of 2 lane road exiting I-15 going north on 395 with a lot of 18 wheeler and RV traffic to pass. Amazed at how quickly the BL accelerated from 55 mph to 80 mph while passing.

The trip covered 1134 miles, 41.5 gals. of fuel. The actual calculated MPG for the trip was 27.4 MPG. As usual about 1.3 mpg less than the trip meter calculated. Regular unleaded on the whole trip. Very satisfied on the performance and the fuel economy.

A few photos with the sport on the trip.

First 2 are in the Alabama Hills.
Third, Mt. Whitney Portal.

Great country to see. Manzanar is humbling. Alabama Hills has a lot of old and new film history. Make sure you visit the cowboy film museum in Lone Pine. Most don’t figure out the plate. Thanks

Great pics! Thanks for the memories too! My brother and I did a lot of hiking and fishing up the high Sierras. Climbed Mt Whitney, cross countried over new Army pass to the Muir trail on the west side, fished the June Lakes Loop and Owens river up by Bishop with our father. Camped several times at Whitney portal. Just Beautiful country! Thanks again.

Awesome road trip, thanks for sharing- it brings back fond memories from the early 1980s hiking up those beautiful mountains and the chain of lakes, where still to this day, the rainbow trout we caught from those lakes was the best trout I have ever had. It’s a great trip. And glad you stopped at Manzanar- forces one to recall that most formative time in American and world history.
