Yesterday I hooked up my amp and sub, tapped into fuse #3 for the remote wire, which I had seen was not supposed to be hot when the car is off. Mine seems to be hot all the time, with the car off and locked I can see the power led still on on the amp through the back window. Any other fuses I could use in the passenger kick panel fuse box?

How long did you wait on checking that led? Devices can hold power for a bit of time with the power led still lit even though power has been truly cut.

That's actually a good point, I didn't wait a long time because I figured once the car was locked and interior lights dimmed power fuse 3 should have not had power. But it still had to be 5-10 minutes

I am not sure about certain fuses, but the USB ports will still provide power for like 10-15 minutes after vehicle shutoff. 5-10 minutes might have been too short to check tbh

I'm probably just overthinking it but I'm trying to avoid waking up to a dead battery in the morning

I hooked it back up, locked the car and went inside for about an hour, when I came out it was still on. I don't get it, it's not like my car should be wired different than everybody else's. I'm wondering if the cigarette lighter is hot when the car is off or not...

See the links I posted but look for your model year .., there are differences in model years

Also possible you arenā€™t in #3 I suppose
Itā€™s easy to be off by 1

It looks like you're correct. In my exhaustion from tearing the Bronco apart to run wires I looked at the diagram the wrong way. Looks like I tried slots 20 & 24. So in short, I'm an idiot. Thank you for helping me realize the error of my ways šŸ˜

First rule of troubleshooting: check the easy sā€”t first.
