Hello all,

I purchased a used 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands with just under 40,000 miles on it a little over a year ago. During that time I have had a blast driving this car everydy and have had zero issues with the car besides the dreaded brake moan (whale sounds) that many of us have had.

I love this car so much that I convinced my mother to buy one when her Rav4 crapped out and a Coworker when his F-150 was at the end of its life. Both people have loved their bronco sports, and I was recently home for a few days and drove my mom's bronco around. She also has a badlands and I was amazed at how much smoother hers drove than mine, so much so that I couldn't help but notice how jerky and shuttering mine was once I was back home and driving it daily again. My particular issue seemed to happen most frequently when making a left handed turn from a dead stop or very low speeds; there would be a slight hesitation as you applied gas and then a shudder from the rear axle that could be heard and felt inside the car. Nothing drastic but enough to vibrate the steering wheel and give me some concern.

As my powertrain warranty is soon to expire I took it into my dealership for some recalls and oil change and asked them to look at the rear differential as well since that is what I could gather the problem was from reading several posts on here. a day later they called to let me know the RDU had in fact crapped out and that they would be ordering a replacement unit, all covered under powertrain warranty (big relief).

I suppose i'm making this post in part to thank you all for your info and posts on this forum, as it helped me confirm my issues and also as heads up for others who may not realize they are having this issue. I didn't realize my car was driving abnormally for an entire year, the problem not being severe enough to impact drivability of the car, more of a quirk than anything. Luckily for me the timing of it worked out that I was still under warranty but wanted to post in case anyone else was having the same issue and didn't realize it.

It's unfortunate that your RDU is bad, there have not been that many dual clutch RDU failures posted here in comparison to the single clutch units.
At least Ford is taking care of it, hopefully after replacement it will drive as smooth as the Sport your mom has. Good luck!
