Power train malfunction -reduced power.. Service Engine Soon warning,
And get this-
Gear selected will engage at low speed.

The engine sounds fine, but will not move forward in R, reverse in R.
2022 BS Badlands 2.0 liter, stacked
Just over 16,000 miles, my only vehicle.
The day after my third oil and filter change, I get in, start it like normal, flip dial to reverse, press accelerator, engine Baily revs and just goes toe idle with on accelerator. The first 2 errors are described on my phone in Ford Apps, and the first two are shown in dashboard error icons as a wrench and the engine. The message about gear engaging is in writing like any other notification on the dash.
I’m ticked off. I did not shell out gobs of money to Ford so I could experience this.
Roadside assistance would only tow to closest dealer, Anderson Ford. I called them a couple of hours earlier than tow truck arrival, and informed them of the issues and errors and informed them a tow truck be delivered.
they have now hadi it two days, and they Can’t provide any diagnosis and therefore can’t provide a loaner vehicle. Late this afternoon they said they were trying to decipher the codes , but because they dint have transmission specialist, would like need to have it towed to another dealer, and hopefully they would be able to read the error codes and hopefully give a diagnoses, and determine if I qualify for a loaner.
I have work to do, but no car to get to my office, and the dealer which is eight miles from my home would transport it to the other dealer nearly 100 miles away.
I could give a rats ass what code they are trying to interpret, because based on the messages in Ford app and on the dashboard there is something drastically messed up on the vehicle.
I’ve read of similar reports on line and owners getting jacked around by incompetent dealers for six to eight weeks only to end up with a new transmission, or waiting for parts.
When I have explained this and my greatest concern aside from the vehicle is that I need a loaner that they should pay for, they say they have none at this time, and they could set me up with a rental car from a rental company, but can’t guarantee they would reimburse me.
im livid, and they seem to have no sense of professionalism nor the right tools or staff, nor have they considered that I am losing money for each hour I am not working-and I ain’t going to be reimbursed for those losses.
This was a beautiful car by who I thought was a reputable car maker that would at a bare minimum take care of those tgat paid a very high price for a car, only to find I am getting the runaround.
Anybody have any ideas on how I can get a little consideration and demonstration that Ford stands behind their products.
It would be better if the damn car and Ford app had not displayed the error messages, because then at least I would have no clue what is going on.

Way too much electronics in vehicles today. Too many things to go wrong. Half of the time, the dealer mechanics can do a fix or a part will be needed taking more time to fix.

Gear selected will engage at low speed

I just had this issue with my Bronco Sport Big Bend 2021 with 26k miles on it.

Brought it to the dealer who took about 4 days to diagnose and another 3 days to order parts and do the repair.

Here is the information from the paperwork “Control valve stuck and scored in bore causing no reverse. Replaced main control and one time use parts. Set fluid level. Programmed solenoid ID and performed adaptive road test. M time to disassemble main control, inspect and assemble for core”

So far so good since the repair.

Mine is Doing exact same thing except it will be in park and actually be in drive or reverse, downshift at high speed to low gear and redlines rpm. Scared to drive mine. Right now I have axle growling, catalytic converter with cracked flex pipe and now this transmission problem, effectively I have a piece of lawn art. Ford has had it in shop numerous times and can’t fix it.

Has your dealer said anything in regards to what the other posters reported? Have you read through all your records from the times they looked at it?

I am having the same problem with my 2021 Sport. I have 52,000 miles. I bought this vehicle because my last vehicle kept stalling out on me on the freeway. So I decided to go brand new. I work 2 jobs and have a very active teenager. We are catching Ubers while the sport is parked in front of the house being useless. Very frustrating. Wish I could’ve afforded the extended warranty.

Hi,
I Have the same problem. The message “gear selected will engage at low speed” appeared on my car’s screen, when I changed D to R and at the same time there was a strong vibration-shock in the car gearbox. I sent the car in a specialised garage since it has a guarantee. Three months later since they checked the car, upgraded it and restarted it, they gave it back to me, ready to use. Unfortunately when I drove it for about 300 kilometres, the problem showed up again......
Hi!

I've got exact same problem (both the message and car violent shuddering when switching to Reverse) on my Focus ST-Line 2021 Ecoboost Automatic 1.0 125, but no solution so far yet... The only difference is that for me it happens occasionally and I'm unable to identify the pattern.

The problem started about half a year after buying the car. It is still on warranty and I've been to the official Ford repair several times because of that. But every time they say that they are unable to reproduce this behavior and they don't get any transmission/ gear box diagnostics errors. Therefore, they cannot fix the issue.

What have been already tried: transmission and gear box diagnostics; gear box oil check and fill; replacement of a solenoid; TCM reset. Nothing worked.

Have you managed to make any progress on fixing this problem, please?

Thanks

Unfortunately no it has become dangerous. An almost permanent situation has worsened. I have made an appointment with a new garage to find a solution. I really don't know what to do if the fault is not found even now.

Thank you for your reply! I'm sorry to hear that the problem became even worse and I hope they'll find the root cause in the new garage.

Please, let me know how it goes. I'll also try to contact my Ford repair shop again after these holidays.

Thank you and happy holidays.
