With several comments on how the Sport looks similar in size to the 2012 and earlier Escapes......
..... can one of our expert Photoshop\Rendering folks take a earlier Escape and the Sport and do a comparison?

They are remarkably close, but since the picture is at an angle it makes it difficult to find an old escape picture angled in the same manner.

I might try to use the orange one in the header since it is a straight on side shot and seems to be basically what Ford ended up with.

I am not proficient enough in Photoshop anymore, plus I don't have a photo of my old Escape at the proper angle.
If someone can do anything with this, have at it:

I think the question is if the interior space will be the same, more or less.
I liked the “yard stick“ gear shift on the steering column too....lol but I bet that has gone away.

I worry a bit about the room behind the seats, with the shorter overhang in back.
I also would have liked a front fascia more like the big Bronco.

Was that a 2003 you posted?

The older escape had about a 103 inch wheel base, the new escape has a 107 inch wheel base and the new bronco sport has a 105 inch wheel base. Both the old escape and the new bronco sport have a bout a 174 inch Length.

Which I am a huge fan of the bronco sport looking like the old escape. The current escape has turned into the entry level rental car vehicle. Where the bronco sport will be the fine entry-level vehicle for people that actually enjoy driving

Cargo Volume to Seat 1 (ftÂł)64.8
Cargo Volume to Seat 2 (ftÂł)33.0
Versus new Bronco Sport: “Cargo space shrinks just slightly, to 32.0 cubic feet with the seats up and 65.0 with them down, versus Escape's 33.5 and 65.4.” -motortrend.com

If in fact it is Area 51 it looks quite a bit different than what's on Ford's website.

What we need to find are silhouette drawings of each on the same scale.

I currently drive a 2008 Jeep Liberty Sport which has that "boxier yet rugged" look to it.. sort of like the 2008-2012 Escape. I was disappointed that that "boxier yet rugged" look disappeared as it was replaced by a more smoother look by Ford as well as other makers UNTIL the Ford Bronco Sport was unveiled. That is one reason why I decided to order a BS as a replacement for my Jeep smaller SUV rather than going with another Jeep product or some other as well as a real transmission (not CVT) and much, much better fuel economy!
