I've been been doing some off roading on gravel roads. There are a lot of pebbles stuck in the treads. This may be a newbie question but is there any benefit to remove them? Amazon actually has a tool specifically for that purpose.

I'd guess leaving them, eventually they pop loose and become a paint chip.

The Bronco isn't the only car to get gravel up in the treads, but my OCD makes me pop them out. Thanks for the heads-up on the tool. I've been using a small pry bar but had no idea someone made a tool for it!

I guess the one noticeable benefit is that it will stop the tak tak tak tak or krkrkrkrkrkr stud-simulator noises on the road. Unless you still like clipping playing cards to your bike tires, then you may want to leave them in. I don't actually believe the stories about the gravel puncturing the tire. In fact, I feel like the more likely culprit when poking and prodding with a metal shank!

I don't believe there is any danger of damage if they stay in the tire, but as Mr. Mike notes they'll eventually come out, and if they come out at the wrong time they might become a paint chip—for you. Worse, it could mean a cracked windshield for someone behind you. I yank 'em if I see 'em.

What the heck. I'm retired (pun not intended) so I've got the time for another project. 😎
