Hello everyone! I have a scratch that is starting to rust on my roof rail.
Does anyone have experience with painting those?

I'm thinking about masking off the area and researching the proper satin black spray paint.
I would rather have a little sliver of a slightly different color black than the rust.

Thank you for your time.

I would go by my local Ford Dealers Body Shop an see if they could help with the correct color.

I didn't even think about that. There likely is a Ford rail black. Thank you.

Black appliance paint.

For these type of repairs I use this:
Rust-Oleum Paint 213174 .6-Ounce Specialty Brush Bottle Appliance Touch Up, Black, 0.6 Ounce https://a.co/d/c32OMDG

May not be a perfect match, but it does cover and holds up well.

The dealer may have a contractor who comes in and touches up paint. I am not sure of outside paint but for instance I know they sub out to contractors who repair scratches in the plastic inside parts such as dashboards and plastic panels. Also small dent repair with paintless dent removal. I have needed both in the past and you can not even tell where the damage was unless you are looking at the repair from a foot away. Maybe they have the same type of repair available for the rails.
