OEM tires bad traction in snow (2025 Bronco Sport)

I'm curious which tire model you have on your 25 BB. There are a couple different ones I've seen on the various trims (excluding, of course, the GY sas versions). Perhaps even regional differences? Are yours Continental Cross Contact ATR?

My continental cross contacts were really good in snow for the month I dealt with them in the snow.

I upgraded to Wildpeak AT4s just because.

I have the Continental ProContact TX on my '25 Big Bend. No issues at all and will probably just get another set of them when the time comes.

Yes. Continental. But they are just a highway only tread.

Most OEM tires are not so good for all conditions. The first thing I did after getting our 2025 was to switch tires immediately. And the reason once because we do go up into the mountains into snow and on Forest roads.

If it’s deep snow airing down can really help. I wouldn’t go as low as this video but try it. This isn’t a long term solution but can really help get you out of a bad situation. Make sure to add air again you don’t want to drive around under inflated long term. If also really helps off-road

First thing I did the week I picked the gig up was ditch the factory tires. I replaced them with 235s which lasted until my 1st camping trip. Not great in 4 inches of clay mud. Ended up with Mickey Thompson 245s on Apex wheels. Not affected by mud anymore!

Off-roading is the primary reason for airing down; traversing deep snow falls in that category.

The Increased contact patch and resulting gain in traction is the main benefit, softening the ride is an important secondary reason, good for both passengers and suspension components.

For most trails in AZ, I’ll go with 20 psi. If it’s heavily rocked, I may go 15. Serious crawls that would call for 5-10 psi (and bead locks) I’m not going to even attempt. As far as airing back up for the pavement, I do before I’ve left the dirt.

Interestingly, the folks at the Off-Roadeo in Moab leave them permanently at 20-25, and that includes a good 40 miles of highway driving each day of the event. But then they can afford new tires way more frequently than most of us.

Ours came with Pirelli boots and they are not very good in snow. In fact, they give my wife a false cense of security, I can feel the backend wanting to spin but she does not. I can not wait to dump them!

My 2025 Heritage with stock all weather tires did just fine in about 5" of snow. I don't expect them to be brilliant but they certainly didn't get stuck anywhere. I was more than please how the Bronco Sport handles mucky conditions, it has been terrific.

After giving the OEM Continental crosscontact atr a try this winter they were not good enough for me driving in slippery conditions.. They were ok in a straight line in snow but icy ruts and braking were no good. I replaced them with Toyo open country at3 but any all weather tires should be an improvement. I have General altimax all weathers on another vehicle, they are very good too.

Just switched to the At4s as well, and this winter in Ontario Canada has been a wild one. If been busting through snow drifts taller than my hood and 20 feet long lol
I'm having the best time driving to work everyday
