Clear skies tonight the in MPLS/ST Paul Minnesota area. Looking forward to a good view. Just need to drive out of town a little to escape the light pollution.

I'm too far south to see it and the weather is not likely to cooperate. Bummer.

But-- If you have the opportunity to see the aurora, you have jump at it. I took this pic the day before my birthday in March in a park outside of Reykjavik.

Initially it will likely appear as high, wispy clouds with a tinge of color, primarily green. The less ambient light pollution the better you'll see. Look at the wisp through your iPhone (sorry Droids, they didn't work anywhere near as well in our group) to confirm it's the aurora, then enjoy the show as your eyes acclimate. If you get really lucky (and the cams didn't catch it that well) you'll get the reds and purples. After a while I stopped taking shots and just took it in.

Also-- If you're going to take pics, pick a star and focus on it so it's less blurry. My DLSR took okay shots but my iPhone 15 Pro was incredible. This is an iPhone shot.

Took this one of the sun yesterday afternoon through some thin clouds. The sunspot responsible for all the hubbub is clearly visible at the 4 o'clock position. It's approximately 15 times wider than than Earth.

Been on my bucket list for a while now to see the northern lights. I need to get out of SoCal more often.
And for me, Florida...

Hope some members post some photos for us that can't get there.
