So about 20 minutes ago I stopped at a gas station for gas and when I turn my car back on it didn't start. And about four warning lights came on. The first one was coolant over temperature warning even though it wasn't and I could clearly see the cooling temperature gauge was fine. The car been running fine and it hadn't been over temp before that and it's about 50° out. I'm in Phoenix. Also I saw parking aid was out and I believe two other ones that I didn't read. I should have taken a picture or video but basically I just turned it off and pressed the start button again and it started up fine and it started up fine two more times since then but I haven't had the body control module recall done because I had read in some places that people had just had more issues after it had been done but I want to rule that out so I'm going to go ahead and have it done. I just scheduled it for next week. Of course when I was planning to go do something.

But I think the real culprit is the battery because I've noticed when I've been camping that even just after like a day sometimes less than a day and not using the car for anything. It'll do that battery saver thing if it just sits for a little while, And then also whenever I was driving back from camping last night the voltage instead of reading like 14.7 on my volt gauge it was reading 15 and then 15.1 which is too high but not scary high. But yeah so I'm pretty sure it's just my battery going and it was messing with some of the sensors especially with the cold but I want to rule that out with that stupid recall first because I'm still paying for my dogs surgery for like one more paycheck.

But basically even if it seems fine as soon as I can I'm going to buy a new battery and I'm going to get an optima red top because that's what I always do when my batteries fail and they're out of warranty and I can't get them replaced for free because they're just better and I've never had an issue with one and I camp alone too often to have battery issues.

Sorry so to get to the point of it has this happened to anyone else? And if it did, did you continue to have issues and if so what did you do and did it get fixed?

Has happened to many owners … almost always is the battery. You can have a load test performed before replacing the battery. AGM Battery is advised.

Thanks. Yeah I figured it was. I just hope I can get a red top like I did with my escape. I know it took a little bit of research to find the right size cuz they didn't actually advertise it for my 2014 escape 2.0. so I had to like compare the model numbers and stuff but if it does I'll put a post up so other people know so they can upgrade cuz I would highly recommend it. And honestly, nowadays it's not that much more and the warranties longer

So luckily they do have one listed for a vehicle and it's the same no matter which trim. Of course they only offer the yellow top, not the red top. So it's going to be almost $400, but for me for this can't beat the peace of mind with as often as I'm out alone

If you remember please post which battery you do get, its part # and cost, its warranty period and where you bought it from. Thanks!!

So I was reading another sport forum that said that the Costco batteries are the same as the optima red tops And I have a friend who has a Costco membership cuz I really don't want to pay 400 bucks. I don't need a yellow top in my car so I might do that. But yeah I'll definitely post what I do. I think I'm going to cancel my service appointment. I really don't want to get that recall

Costco has switched battery suppliers from time to time so you verify with Costco where they get batteries from.

I understand your concern with Recall 24S24. The primary issue likely is with the transmission reset (enters relearn process) and not with the (in my opinion necessary) BCM/PCM Programming. While it’s not yet 100% clear, it does seem like Recall 24S24 is necessary for the longevity of the battery unless you consistently use a battery maintainer or drive sufficiently to keep the AGM Battery charged sufficiently.

In the end it’s your call to make on getting Recall 24S24 or not.

Yeah I literally drive my car everyday and I rarely go on vacations where it's going to sit for a while so I'm not too worried about that. And I do have some extra stuff drawn off the battery with my air suspension and having to add a 7-pin for towing. But my cars always work fine so I just don't want to mess with that. And the signs are pretty clear that it's a battery issue. If I change the battery and it still having issues, maybe I'll go in and do the recall.

But basically my car is always worked fine and I even had a 22 Badlands to compare it to and it all feels the same up until last night and today so and then the last couple camping trips with it going into battery saver way too fast. But anyways I'll let y'all know what I do. I'm thinking about not getting the optima I got to do more research. I've only read a few forums but it's sounding like the quality isn't there anymore. And also it sounds like you could get a red top at Costco. There's supposedly the same battery but requires a lot more research

Ok. Also, this chart was in another post but you would need to verify any data on the chart that’s of interest to you

It’s just posted as FYI:

Oh nice see I'll have to look through that. So I just went to AutoZone and had him do a battery test and it said it was at 95% state of charge and everything passed. So supposedly my battery is fine And I bought my car in March of 23 I tried to look at the sticker date on the battery but I couldn't see it without removing it, which I really don't want to do right now. But with all the camping trips that I've got coming up and the fact that it's my only car I'm thinking I'm probably just going to replace it. Just got to figure out what I'm going to replace it with

I've had that same situation happen, random no start along with all the warning lights.
I had my battery replaced under warranty with a Motorcraft AGM, it's been 2 years now and have not had any battery related issues.

Especially out in Phoenix. That heat eats batteries for lunch. My daughter is lucky to get much more than three years out of them. She always gets some credit but always has to replace them.

I’d also confer it’s probably the battery, my escape and old Mazda6 would do crazy things when the battery was low, throw lights I’d never seen and crank the ABS pump for no reason. Curious if the Motorcraft batteries still have the 5 year replacement warranty, mine lasted the whole warranty period before but I understand the auto stop/start ones are different now

I had the recall done over 1000 miles since, no problem at all. Yeah tranny is in relearn mode no problem though..
