Hey everyone I had some Toyo Open Country AT3 225/65R17 installed on my Big Bend today and I love the look!

I wanted to put bigger tires on it but I live in the Midwest right now and dont off road as much as I would like so I stayed with the original tire size for now. When these are in need of replacing I’m going to put on some 245s or bigger as I intend on putting a 2 inch lift eventually.

I also got the windows tinted to 20% on top of the factory tint and I think it really completes the look. I also have a clear bra on the front.

I think the aggressive tread always looks better. I did the same to mine but installed Falken Wildpeak AT3 225/65R17.

I have heard good things about those tires. I almost go those but I have had the Open Countries on my trucks in the past so I knew I liked them.

Love them! It was between those and the BF Goodrich for me.

Question, what does going from 225 to 235 to 245 actually change? Does it add ride height or tire width or both?

Cheers!

The bigger tires are better off-road. Bigger footprint on the ground and yes adds ground clearance as well. Since I’m in Illinois where there is no off-roading I’ll only use it when I go to Moab this summer. So I chose to keep the smaller tires for fuel economy

Thank you! Yes I understood they are better for off road. What I’m trying to understand is what changes exactly when you go from 225 -> 235 or 235 -> 245.

Example, does every 10 increase add an inch of clearance or a half? How much wider does the tire get at each interval?

Cheers!

Try this Tire Calculator. It will be a big help understanding the differences and it lets you compare 2 sizes side by side. Hope that helps!
