Has anyone taken a moment to see if the updated front end from the '25 Sasquatch is backward compatible to BSBL's? It's clearly an attempt to improve the original lower front bumper which I think more than a few of us have discovered is vulnerable even when not doing something foolish.

I am certain it is. The headlamps look the same, the overall grill dimensions look the same, the fenders look the same. I bet upper and lower bumper covers, and possibly an absorber, MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE a bumper bar need to be swapped. Same thing on the rear bumper. I bet it all swaps just fine.

The rear certainly needs a new crash bar, having the recovery d-rings level with the license plate would mean their mounting points are directly into the metal crash bar back there. I don’t think they would need additional attachment points for that crash bar because the tow hitch was already a substitution for the tow-eye, but id tend to believe that somewhere they would have added reinforcement back to body for the rear skid plate, otherwise that part of the bumper is already rather floaty and bendy.

The front is a different story, the fogs are in a new location, lower on the bumper close to where the old tow hooks were, the new recovery rings seem to be in line with the old fog location, which would probably mean there is a new attachment system and reinforcement built into front crash bar, and I’ve not tried to remove that part yet so I don’t know how involved that is. The front metal plate also rides up higher into the lower painted area which would need to be replaced. The whole front piece, headlights, grille, painted bumper and black plastic bumper all come off in one piece and I’ve not tried to separate them personally so I don’t know how involved that is. It would probably be safe to presume additional stiffness needs to be added to the lower section of the metal front plate as it transitions into the engine skid to keep that all strong and secure.

While its very possible to do the swap, it would probably be several thousand dollars in buying new front and rear crash bars, new fogs, new front and rear bumpers and risking the off chance there is additional hardware, welding or tapping needed to install it.

To replace an existing front bumper alone is between $900.00 and $1600.00. I don't think I'd bother with the rear--but IF it's possible the front is tempting, and say costs comparable along the order of 2K or less.

Considering the SAS is a $4K (or so) Upcharge, it would be a guess than it would cost at least that to convert an older model. Sure, some of that up-charge is pure marketing profit... but when a Cargo Management system is $200 factory and swapping it out is close to $1000 (Panels and labor), it is likely retrofitting won't be very cost effective.

This is often true even for non-factory upgrades. In most cases, it's far cheaper to buy a car equipped from the factory to do what you want it do than to modify it after the fact.
