Congratulations to all the new Bronco Sport owners!!! Just wondering how you guys are doing during your 1,500 mile break-in period. Those that are trying to follow the break-in guidelines, are you avoiding freeways and taking side streets so that you are always varying your speeds?

Break-in suggestions for first 1,500 miles (compiled from the forum):
  • Don't go over 80mph
  • Avoid exceeding 4000 rpms
  • No full throttle starts
  • Vary your speed frequently (don't drive a constant speed)
  • Don't tow

I’ve hit 4 thousand rpms but not exceeded it, certain highway situations make that difficult even not in sport mode but overall I’ve been easy on the throttle to try and be gentle. I’ll certainly be driving more sport mode after the 1500 mile mark.

So, I have been planning a trip, hoped my sport would be here a few weeks before, but it looks like it may arrive this coming week and i had planned to leave on saturday for a road trip (abt 14 hours). any advice on using my new bronco for this? should i look at other options? if i get it a few days before and do some driving is that enough to break it in? just looking for some input....thanks!

I didn't do anything special for break-in, just drove it like I would normally drive any vehicle. I hit 10,000 miles with zero problems.

I do drive mostly highway miles, so maybe that helped break it in.

Just crossed 1,500. Changed the filter and switched to full synthetic oil. Ready for a hot summer.
