I updated my Nav Maps from 2 20 to 2 21 using a USB device in September 2022, followed by installing the Sync 3.4 22200 update ( did this Sync update via USB but could have used WiFi ).

Now this Bronco Sport Badlands Facebook group (see pic) reports a few people that stated their Nav Maps updated from 2 20 to 2 21 automatically over WiFi.

I check Ford’s Nav Maps website today and it still shows USB is required to perform the maps update.

Has anyone seen documentation from Ford showing the Nav Maps update can now be done via WiFi?

You can download the map update from Ford manually, but you’ll have to put it on a USB drive to install it. I almost certain SYNC will not auto download/install map updates on WiFi.

That’s my understanding as well and I used a USB Drive for the Nav Maps 2 21 update however at least 2 people on the Facebook BS Badlands group (see pic) stated their Nav Maps update was over WIFi.

Just looking to see if anyone else stated that they also found WiFi works for the Nav Maps update (I doubt it).

Yes I agree, what I think happened is the factory installed Nav 2 21 when the persons Badlands was built summer 2022 however the 8” display settings screen continued to report (incorrectly) Nav 2 20 (that is what the person saw and took a pic of on their 8” display). Then after sync 3.4 22200 was updated automatically (over WiFi), the info on the 8” display was refreshed to correctly show Nav 2 21 which I believe was installed at the factory.

Makes sense.
