The very first Bronco sport I saw was the one I purchased three days later. In the waning light I really thought it was a Land Rover until I Got out of my Van and looked closer.
The similarity is obvious.
This Is a 2010 Land Rover LR4 Sport,,, Bronco Sport, LR4 Sport, follow me ?
These LR's run $85k to $110K new,, yeah they do.
Try 12 mpg city 17 highway and 14 mpg combined, OUCH !
Notice the grill work, the hood line and the contour of the front corners and that side fender vent ahead of the door.
12 mpg city, wow ! Imagine that when our Gas climbs back up to $4.00 a gallon

Here Is another to compare the Bronco Sport to :
2021 land rover defender
18 city 21 hwy mpg's
Base model starts at $46,100 and the model 90 is $83,000
Just look at it !
Ford really came through for us.

For the life of me I cannot understand why people compare the BS to the
Renegade Trail Hawk or Compass or Subaru, they are all so dated.
I drove two of those, no way I'd buy any one of them, ok maybe the Subaru

If someone buys a LR they better live close to a dealership and get used to driving service loaners. We all took a leap of faith with Ford going with a first year model and from first reports it seems like we all have a solid vehicle. I would NEVER do that with a Land Rover - heck, I'm not sure I would do that with a 5 year old model. LOL. The 80 does look pretty cool though.

The reason Ford compares it to the Jeep Renegade and Compass is those are the closest off-road competition. Everything else in that price range can't compete off-road. The Sport is probably a better overall vehicle than those, I haven't looked at them much.

However, again just talking offroading, anything above that does better than the Sport. The Cherokee is as good off-road and the Trailhawk version beats it.

The Bronco sport in no way competes with the Defender. Land Rover makes the best off-road AWD on the market and it's not close. On top of that it has an automatically locking center/rear diffs and a low range transfer case.
