L0L, I turned off that part where it sends back info on what I am doing L0L. This happens even when I am driving around my property with a trailer attached, picking up branches etc, going in and out of the vehicle. Is a pain to have put my seat belt on whe. I am on the grass not the road, and being locked out makes me say nasty words. I am from a very small village of 60 people, so no worry about vehicle being stolen. So with the keys in it on my own property is a BIG PAIN!

You should have it on yours. I had a 22' Outerbanks that I first learned about it. After it locked my keys inside.

Yes I can switch keyless entry on or off (keyless entry: meaning to deactivate the front doors touch lock/unlock on the exterior door handle)

I did not know about this:
system deactivates passive keys left inside your vehicle when you lock it. You cannot switch the ignition on using a deactivated passive key. Press the unlock button on the remote control to reactivate a passive key.

Although I don’t see a lot of value leaving a passive keyfob inside the vehicle

Not sure however that any of that feature has to do with the problem OP has

It does indeed lock with the keyfob inside by following the procedure I posted earlier, try it yourself

I didn’t believe it either but I’ve since come around after trying on my own vehicle

besides what I listed, it’s possible you have a low keyfob battery (unlikely on a new ‘26) or a defective receiver module (possible), and of course a keyfob in an RF shielded container

Let’s see what your dealership finds, please post the results after it’s solved

The vehicle is only 3 weeks old, has did it from the start. No RF shielded container. It is happing just like I said. There is no setting to stop it from doing it. Once I get it intontje dealership I will most certainly post thr result. Tks

My 2021 & 2023 never would lock if I left the key inside.

How about just not closing the door when you get out unless you have the key on you? Or roll the windows down first. Or put the key on a lanyard and carry it around your neck.

If you’re not hitting the lock button unintentionally, then perhaps you’re closing the door with the handle in such a way that the keyless features are activated.

And the real question is why do you get a new BS every 3 years?

Well, now you're just being stubborn, one of those difficult customers the dealers talk about.

How about just not closing the door when you get out unless you have the key on you? Or roll the windows down first. Or put the key on a lanyard and carry it around your neck.

If you’re not hitting the lock button unintentionally, then perhaps you’re closing the door with the handle in such a way that the keyless features are activated.

Well first off that isn't fixing the problem. Second I do not touch the inside lock nor the outside handle when I close the door. The vehicle should work properly, not having to wear a lanyard around my neck or take the key with me. Every other Bronco Sport I have had, has never required me to wear a key on a lanyard nor remove the key. The key inside is suppose to stop the vehicle from locking so yiu don't lock your keys in it. As for why I get a new Bronco Sport Badlands every 3 years, is because I can, and I like to keep up to date with the new technology, but not so sure this one is.

From across the internet you must understand that it really sounds like user error. But it also seems like you’ve tested all the possibilities so it probably is an issue with your BS. Does it happen every time? If so, it should be easy to diagnose. If not, it will be more work.

Try
- changing the battery in your fob and/or using the second one
- putting the key somewhere else in the car

Vehicle is a 2026 new only 3 weeks old and it does it with both fobs. Craziest thing I have ever seen. I just thought someone might have had the same problem with a 2026 that is brand new is all. Once we get that figured out will try to find why the passenger power seat back sometimes is laid back when I go to get in the vehicle when no one has touched it. He passenger only weights 110 lbs. One mystery at a time.
